Calypso A Journey from the Past to Today and the Future

The Calypso collection, which is composed of 35 unique pieces, is inspired by the fairy of the rivers, Calypso.
Calypso falls in love with Odysseus, who escaped the Trojan war and stumbles on the island where she lives alone. Odysseus, after 7 peaceful and loving years of staying with Calypso, wants to go back home. While she accepts the departure of Odysseus reluctantly, Calypso gifts him a cape and leather garments in order to protect him from the fierceness of the sea.
The inspirational story written by Homer about Calypso, the queen of beauty and strength, inspired Tayfun Kaba to create striking new designs. This collection is created by the shades of water from Homer’s eyes, the ripples of light that surround him, and the colors of the fire and the soil of the Mediterranean.
While introducing the art of glassblowing and wirework to marbling art, Kaba brings a confident woman who is sure of her emotions to life—from the past to the present day.
