A sneak peek at the Baytech - HMS (HandMadeStone) section of Born to Fade: Raw to Washed Denim by Zennure Danisman - Denim Theater & Endrime.

I see this project as more than a book. It captures the shifts in our industry, documenting what came before and what’s happening now.

It brings together people, companies and materials from around the world. One of the examples I’m most excited about is HOWA, where stonewashing was pioneered, washing with HMS, our next-generation stones developed to reduce environmental impact. That shift is documented through stories, recipes, people and jeans.

The book also preserves something very personal to me: a conversation from Denim after the Loom, the event we held in London last year. Our first-ever event.

We didn’t know it at the time, but it would be Adriano’s last interview about the beginnings of stonewashing and the journey that followed. So, to me, the book feels like a memoir of some kind, too.

Since I first entered this industry, I’ve noticed the knowledge gap between what happens on the washing floor and what reaches designers’ offices and design schools. This book helps bridge that gap, bringing the processes, recipes and people behind denim closer to those designing with it.

We’ll proudly have a copy at our Kingpins Amsterdam booth for anyone who would like to take a look.

Find us on 14-15 October in the Green Area upstairs, at the Jeanius Hub with The Mills Fabrica, booth 13. Copies will be available to buy from ENDRIME LTD / Denim Theater at the show.

The first pic is our founder Beyza with the President of Howa, the company that invented stonewash, in front of the very machine they did it with.
The second pic is HMS washed Howa samples, which the factory manager described as “same effect as pumice stone”
And the rest is the incredible things we saw and did with Mr. Mohsin, Sadia, and Zennure for the 50th year of Stonewashing book written by Zennure, soon to be published by Endrime. They did incredible washes at Howa with HMS for this book.
All the BTS and the amazing garments soon to be shared with everyone by ENDRIME very soon.
