4:15PM Monday 18th June 2018: Scattered Showers, Thunderstorms Occurring Across Trinidad, Approaching Tobago, as Tropical Wave, ITCZ Continue to affect T&T. Gusty Winds, Street/Flash Flooding Possible. Additional Showers, Thunderstorms Likely Over Next Several Hours.

Scattered light to moderate showers with isolated heavy pockets/thunderstorms are currently affecting Trinidad and approaching Tobago. Heavier showers and thunderstorms are possible across Trinidad and Tobago over the next several hours generally moving north-northwestward.

These showers are due to very favorable low-level convergence, upper level divergence coupled with increased low level moisture associated with the ITCZ and a nearing Tropical Wave. The ITCZ is forecast to remain across our region through the weekend, generating showers and cloudiness through the week, with back-to-back tropical waves affecting T&T.

For the next 24 hours, beginning 12:00AM Monday, rainfall accumulations are generally forecast to remain between 15-25 millimeters for much of Trinidad and Tobago, with Southern and Central Areas receiving between 30-50 millimeters through 12:00AM Tuesday. Heavy showers and thunderstorms will return again on Tuesday.

Street/Flash flooding possible in heavy showers, thunderstorms or in areas of prolonged rainfall. Gusty winds may accompany heavy showers or thunderstorm activity. Landslides/landslips possible in elevated areas, particularly along the Northern Range. Cloud-to-ground lighting may become frequent in thunderstorms and are very dangerous to persons outside. If thunder roars, remain indoors.
