"I was in the best shape of my life... I wasn't thinking about it at all." 💔

This Men’s Mental Health and Health Awareness Month, we aren't just checking in on how our men feel - we are talking about what it takes to protect their lives when the unexpected happens.

Bronny James’ story is a heavy reminder that a medical emergency can strike anyone, anywhere, at any time. He is alive today because someone on his team was trained, prepared, and didn't hesitate to step in with an AED and CPR.

As parents, we do everything to protect our families. But true protection means being ready for the moments we hope never come. Learning CPR isn’t just a skill - it is a profound investment in the lives of our infants, our partners, our fathers, and our communities.

Let's make sure the men in our lives, and the families who rely on them, are fully anchored and protected.
💪🏽 Be ready to save a life. Our family centered workshops give you the exact, hands-on confidence you need to act fast in an emergency. DM us today to learn more or to book your infant and adult CPR training session!

You have your Spectra, now what?

Getting your pump is only step one. Here is the blueprint to maximize your milk yield and protect your comfort:

1️⃣ Start in letdown/stimulation mode to mimic baby’s quick, shallow sucks.

2️⃣ Watch your body, not the clock! When you notice milk begin to spray, switch modes.

3️⃣ Switch into EXPRESSION MODE. Many moms find a cycle setting between 50–60 works best, but test what feels right for you.

4️⃣ Repeat the process. When the milk slows down significantly, switch back to letdown mode and go back and forth throughout your session.

🛒 The Magic Formula: A great pump is only half the battle. To unlock maximum milk removal with zero pain, it takes:

A Quality Electric Pump + Correct Fl**ge Size + Lubrication

Spectra Baby USA pumps and LactationHubfl**ge sprays are both available right now at Omo and Best Start. Don't guess your setup or risk your supply. DM us to grab your pump or to book your custom fl**ge fitting and pumping blueprint today!

This is Morgan's Dad... 🤍 A beautiful reminder that a Father’s journey with us never truly ends, even when we are having our own babies.

At Omo and Best Start, we are all about giving our little ones the absolute best start in life. But this year for Father's June, we are taking a completely different route. We are starting at the end to come right back to the start.

A father's love, involvement, and value doesn't evaporate after a year. Just like the incredible, lasting value of breastmilk, a father’s nurturing provides a lifetime of benefits that anchors a child for the rest of their days.

Dads, you matter from birth to infinity. ♾️

Welcome June and !

If it’s your first night for the month doing night duty, this is your gentle reminder of the invisible, beautiful work you are doing right now.

The science behind proximity is staggering. Something as natural and instinctive as keeping your baby close translates to thousands of hours of extra touch, brain connection, and foundational security by the time they are three years old.

Co-sleeping, room-sharing, or just those late-night, skin-to-skin cuddles aren't just about getting through the night; they are biologically wired to help your baby thrive. It regulates their nervous system, stabilizes their heart rate, and pours directly into their emotional cup.

So, if you’re feeling tired tonight, look down at that precious little soul beside you. You aren’t "spoiling" them, and you aren't creating "bad habits." You are building a brain. You are anchoring a spirit. 🤍

To all the tired parents keeping watch tonight: you are doing an amazing job. Sweet dreams when you finally get there. ✨

They say it takes a village, but we have to actively build that village before the baby arrives!

A birth plan is an incredible tool for labor, but the journey doesn't end at delivery. Integrating lactation support into your prenatal planning is the ultimate act of self-care. It ensures that when your baby is born, you can focus on what truly matters: healing, bonding, and getting the rest you require.

Let’s take the guesswork out of the fourth trimester. By mapping out anatomy, latching basics, and early feeding expectations ahead of time, you give yourself the gift of confidence.

🌟 Ready to add expert lactation support to your birth plan? Send a DM today to get started on your personalized roadmap.

Yesterday was World Thyroid Day, and today we need to talk about a hidden piece of the postpartum puzzle that rarely gets the attention it deserves: your thyroid function.

Did you know that up to 1 in 10 women experience postpartum thyroiditis within the first year after giving birth? Yet, so many mothers blame themselves for low milk supply or extreme exhaustion, unaware that their body's metabolic engine needs support.

How thyroid levels directly impact your breastfeeding journey:

📉 Hypothyroidism (Underactive): Can delay your milk coming in, cause a persistent low milk supply, and trigger intense fatigue, brain fog, or feelings of depression.

📈 Hyperthyroidism (Overactive): Can sometimes interfere with milk letdown and cause rapid heart rates, severe anxiety, and sudden postpartum weight loss.

The Bottom Line: Your breastfeeding journey isn't just about willpower; it is deeply tied to your underlying endocrine health. If your supply is struggling despite proper stimulation, or if your postpartum fatigue feels entirely unmanageable, it is time to look closer. Your feelings are valid, and your thyroid levels deserve a simple blood test.

Most thyroid management options are completely safe and compatible with lactation. You do not have to struggle through the fog alone.

This year, the World Preeclampsia Day theme is "Know the Symptoms. Take Action."

This theme highlights the critical importance of early recognition. Pregnancy should be a journey of joy, not risk. But the reality is that Preeclampsia - a serious and potentially life-threatening blood pressure disorder - moves quickly. It can happen in any pregnancy, and it is most dangerous during pregnancy and following the six weeks postpartum.

While some pregnancies are at a higher risk than others, it can still happen to any new or expectant mom. Knowing the warning signs can save a life, and Preeclampsia is highly treatable once detected and monitored early.

Look out for these critical warning signs:

⚠️ Severe, persistent headaches that won't go away with medication.

⚠️ High blood pressure (Hypertension).

⚠️ Visual disturbances (like flashing lights, spots, or blurry vision).

⚠️ Severe pain in the upper right abdomen.

⚠️ Sudden swelling in the face and hands / Rapid weight gain.

⚠️ Shortness of breath.

Early care saves lives. Regular check-ups and blood pressure monitoring are key for a healthy pregnancy and postpartum transition. We honestly advocate that after every birth, a mom ideally should go home with a blood monitoring device. Yes, we said it. It is time for a better start. 📊🩺

Join the conversation: Postpartum care doesn't stop after delivery. We must fiercely protect, monitor, and advocate for mothers during this vulnerable transition. Listen to your body, and never apologize for seeking immediate medical attention.
