Life Update: My Red Dress Story
I have accomplished something that has been difficult for me & so many women in their 40s to do. If you guess losing weight, you are correct. The effects of perimenopause are real, but let me tell you how I lost 12lbs and I can finally fit into My Red Dress.
In February this year after consultating Mweia Elias (a Nutritionist) at Empower Nutrition, I embarked on eating according to my meal plan to achieve a caloric deficit. Now remember I do strength training at gym and was "eating healthy" in my opinion, but my weight only decreased by 2lbs and I was obese according to BMI. So when I start to eat in a caloric deficit, I realize my version of healthy just wasn't. So by early March, I lost 6lbs (see picture 2 with my fat baby). I continued with my meal prep and plan, however I couldn't do gym consistently because of Easter vacation and I ate outside of my plan a little too much. So at my April weight in (13th April), even though I lost 6 lbs more, my muscle mass decreased. Check picture 📸 1 of me holding my 6lbs fat baby in the red dress that I told Mweia I was ging to fit into. I haven't worn this dress since 2018 and it was in a donation pile.
So my new goal is to lose another 6lbs, 2 inches off my waist and regain the muscle I lost. I have until the middle of May to accomplish this, so I have to the gym where I am doing more cardio with strength training.
Thanks Mweia for helping me and yes it is possible to loss weight in your 40s.
Love
Kristy
