“I wanted to leave.”
On the journey to Gaza, there was a moment when Jubair Kha started questioning everything.
The fear.
The uncertainty.
The danger ahead.
He began thinking about turning back.
Then he opened the Qur’an.
His eyes fell upon an ayah that stopped him in his tracks:
*”Believers, what is the matter with you that when you are told, ‘Go forth in the cause of Allah,’ you cling heavily to the earth?”* (Qur’an 9:38)
In that moment, it felt as though Allah was speaking directly to him.
Not because he heard a voice.
But because the exact thought he had been wrestling with was answered by the exact page he opened.
Suddenly, he realised something profound:
Allah was watching every step.
Allah heard every thought.
Allah knew every fear he hadn’t shared with anyone.
And Allah knew he was thinking about leaving.
The verse changed everything.
What happened next strengthened his faith forever.
