Mr. Kahawa’s story started in 2014, from a vision to deliver premium coffee to Zanzibar’s South East coast. And although today we are much more than a coffee shop, we still stay true to that initial vision ☕️
That’s why we’ve put together and sponsored a dedicated coffee skills development program for our head barista, Ali. Most of you who have visited us will know him — he’s been with us for over a decade.
Ali is on an exciting journey as we speak — from farm to cup, and beyond.
Travelling from Paje, Ali began with a quick visit to in Stone Town. Now he’s in Mbeya during harvest season, learning firsthand at Utengule Coffee Farm , where we’ve sourced our coffee since day one.
Next, he’ll head to Dar es Salaam to explore the city’s coffee scene and visit the Utengule roastery.
From there, he’ll complete two intermediate courses with the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) in Brewing and Barista Skills — building on his craft through globally recognised training.
Siganje — a coffee enthusiast from — is joining along the way to share their passion and document the journey. Swipe for some moments from their first few days 👉️
This is all about investing in people, process, and better coffee — for all of us who get to enjoy it daily ☕️
