Kirby is officially a Grammy award winner — well, at least in spirit. The pink, spherical creature helped earn Charlie Rosen and Jake Silverman a Grammy for the best arrangement, instrumental, or acapella for their take on Meta Knight’s Revenge from the 1996 classic Kirby Superstar. The arrangement was performed by the aptly-named 8-Bit Big Band, a 30 to 65-member orchestra that specializes in putting its own spin on video game music.

Musicians won for their rendition of Meta Knight’s Revenge.

The BTS collaboration is part of a content package for International Dance Day on April 29. Starting next week, workouts will be led by Fitness Plus trainer Ben Allen and feature choreography straight from BTS’ music videos. Some of the songs featured include hits like “Butter (feat. Megan Thee Stallion),” “Dynamite,” “Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey),” “DNA,” “MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix),” “Permission to Dance,” and “Life Goes On.” The group’s music will also be featured in different workout categories like HIIT over the next four weeks.

You, too, can learn how to move smooth like butter.

This morning Apple announced Apple Music Sessions, a series of live performances that will be available exclusively to subscribers of the company’s music service. Carrie Underwood and Tenille Townes are the first two artists to be featured, and for now, the sessions will mostly be geared toward country.

Apple Music’s answer to Spotify Sessions.

Case in point: the pioneering peer-to-peer music-sharing-and-piracy service Napster has been bought by a consortium of companies who plan to “bring the iconic music brand to web3.” What exactly that means isn’t clear, mostly because web3 itself is such a nebulous concept. However, other web3-focused music startups have let musicians release albums and singles as NFTs, so perhaps expect something similar in Napster’s reimagined future?

The road to a Wear OS YouTube Music app had many twists and turns. In 2020, Google announced it would shutter Google Play Music — the only native music streaming app on Wear OS. And while users could migrate their playlists to YouTube Music, there wasn’t a readily available YouTube Music app for Wear OS. That essentially left Wear OS users with few alternatives if they wanted offline playback. (Spotify’s Wear OS app at the time was little more than a glorified remote control.) To add insult to injury, Google then prioritized creating a YouTube Music app for the Apple Watch.

A long-awaited update is here ahead of the Pixel Watch.

YouTube Music will now attempt to suggest which of your Cast-enabled speakers you want to stream music to. It’s a nice upgrade over the previous approach, where the app would simply list all of the Cast-enabled devices on your network in alphabetical order. If you’re anything like us, that could mean having to hunt through a list of half a dozen speakers, even if there’s only one you use on a regular basis.

An end to speaker hunting?

Spotify has quietly rolled out support for real-time lyrics on the Google Nest Hub, according to a report from 9to5Google. The feature, which has already been made available on iOS, Android, game consoles, desktop computers, and select smart TVs, lets you listen to music on Spotify while seeing a stream of lyrics that progresses with the song.

While Spotify hasn’t formally announced the feature’s launch, a number of users — including the folks over at 9to5Google — report spotting real-time lyrics on their Nest Hub devices. As 9to5Google notes, you can access the feature by tapping the lyrics icon that appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen when you select a song. The video embedded below shows the feature in action.

Now you can read real-time song lyrics from your Nest Hub.

I think we can guess the answer, but I want to end by asking: If you could somehow press a button and unpublicize your life, would you?

Honestly, no, because I have had too many good moments. Obviously, there are times where I’m like, Ugh, I wish no one knew who I was; I wish I never had to do this. But the good moments still override those. I’ve learned so much. I’ve met so many amazing people. I’ve done so many cool things. I feel like I’ve been on this Earth forever—and I’m not even 20 yet.

Subtle, sleek, and perfect for layering, this ombre rainbow suit is pretty epic. If the weather is toasty, leave the blazer at home and go for a classic tee or cami paired with the dreamy trousers!
