Hi 👋🏼 I feel like it’s time to reintroduce myself 🤍
I’m Ashley. I was born and raised in the Bronx, NYC and moved to NC 11 years ago. Somewhere along the way, Moore County became home. I absolutely love the community here and feel so lucky to have built Imperative in it.
A few things about me: I’m 30, a HUGE foodie, love reading, the beach, cycling & Pilates, and I’m completely obsessed with my dog Brooklyn aka the shop manager 🐶🤍 She’s my emotional support baby and if you’ve been in the shop, there’s a good chance you’ve met her.
I started Imperative 4 years ago and spent the first 3 years doing pop-ups before finally opening the storefront last year. Two years ago, I added Charmed by Imperative, our DIY Charm Bar, which has become such a huge part of the business.
When I created Imperative, I wanted fashion to feel accessible AND good. Everything in the shop is under $100, and I’m big on texture, quality and comfort. Think soft, stretchy, flattering, easy-to-wear pieces that you actually feel good in. We keep things pretty neutral around here, you won’t find a ton of bold colors, heavy prints or uncomfortable fits. 🤎
And although we finally have a home, I still love taking the Charm Bar on the road! We do pop-ups, private events, parties & workshops both in the shop and off-site.
Four years later, I still genuinely LOVE what I do. Thank you for shopping, creating, showing up to events, bringing your friends in and allowing me to keep building this little dream of mine. 🥹🤍

Summer is almost over, and we have worked our BUTTS off. 😂☀️

Brooklyn said as **Employee of the Month every single month**, she needed some PTO. And honestly… she deserves the world. 🦋🐾💛

So, we are **CLOSED Sunday, 8/16** while Brooklyn enjoys her very well-deserved vacation. 😂🌴

We’ll be back open Tuesday! Sorry, love you, mean it. 🤍
