Yesterday was a GOOD day🤍

We’ll call this Chapter 2! I’m so excited for what’s to come…because I’ve already experienced so much reward from this journey. Everyday I realize more and more that has changed or shifted in the best possible way.

The practical ones:
〰️ No aches and pains when I wake up in the morning
〰️ No more blood sugar highs/lows
〰️ I crave whole foods
〰️ Great sleep at night
〰️ I can now actually have a few bites of dessert, without devouring all of it

The fun ones:
🎉 Clothes are way more comfortable
🎉 I can easily cross my legs IYKYK
🎉 Arm chairs don’t cut off circulation
🎉 Thrift shopping for my new size(s)
🎉 Able to hike/kayak with my boys

And so much more. I’m just so grateful to have made this choice NOW, so I can live the rest of my life to the fullest, for whatever the Lord has in store for me❤️

There was a time, when walking a few blocks to and from dinner was hard, like genuinely difficult. Go put on a 40lb weighted vest, and ALSO pick up a 20lb medicine ball…then go take a walk around the block. THAT’S what I was carrying around for years! It’s sobering for sure.

It was such a JOY to be able to walk around places on our trip. These non-scale victories are everything to me. They matter so much more than what the mirror or scale say. I want to FEEL good!

I was tired of feeling exhausted and uncomfortable. I was prioritizing everything and everyone else around me…and my body was struggling to keep up. I was headed down a road that would lead to the complete destruction of my health. I decided it was time to make a change. Time to admit that I, in fact, do not have it altogether. Time to accept help. Over the next eight months, I lost 60 pounds. Then I spent three months off of the medication and maintained my weight, and I’m incredibly proud of that! That showed me I’m not just losing weight…I’m building healthier habits🎉

Now I’m starting the next chapter. My goal isn’t just to lose the next 30–40 pounds…it’s to continue becoming stronger, healthier…ultimately creating a lifestyle I can enjoy for years to come.

I’d love for you to follow along as I’m learning to celebrate progress over perfection, and how to be a good steward of this one body I’ve been given. Feel free to ask questions, I’m an open book!

These Cotton boys are something alright. They are strong, brave, loyal, protective. They are also filled with joy and the best laughter (especially when all together)! They are God fearing men, and each of them understands the true joy that comes with trials and tribulations. They’ve all been knocked down at times, but they have learned to take a breath and stand back up, every time…to stand back up, and be the men God has called them to be.

I’m a lucky girl to walk through life with them, love them and stand beside them ❤️

Things I’ve learned during our first 24 hours in 30A:

1. The sand is perfection.
2. Watching and listening to storms out on the water is absolutely magical.
3. Ice Cream is required everyday.
4. There are brothers and sisters in Christ spreading the gospel here…one golf cart taxi ride at a time…love hearing the good others are doing 🙌🏻
5. When pool security yells “Code Brown”, you quickly get out of the pool 😳

Happy Father’s Day to the one who shares my smile, the one who chose me, and the one who fathers my two biggest blessings. I’m so blessed to be Hal’s daughter…and to carry on his name, memory and legacy. I’m equally blessed to be J.R.’s daughter, a loving father who stepped in to cherish my mother and be the best daddy to Garrett and I…you’ve taught me to love God with my whole heart and to laugh through life. I’m also blessed to be Ben’s wife…to have had a front row seat to him leading our home and raising our boys to be God-fearing men. These men (and many others) are worth honoring everyday. Happy Father’s Day!
