Since I mentioned using 🍼s that weren’t “permanently” sealed*, and I’m experiencing difficulties getting the teats glued to the rings, I figured I would make a few new teat test videos demoing teat-only sealed 🍼s
(in the comments, ‘cause pics & vids can’t be posted together on pages)

I’ll make a post about my lack of progress with the modified 🍼 teats, too, in a bit. 😝

We don’t consider our 🍼s permanently sealed ‘cause we read that silicone really only sticks to itself, so any sealant used to stick teats to their bottles would need to be monitored and possibly replaced– just like the sealant around our sinks, tubs, windows, doors, etc.
Therefore, we choose to only seal the holes & vents in our bottle teats. Plus, not sealing the entire 🍼 means we get to role play making ‘em for our babe (which we always enjoy🤗).

Today I wanna babble about 🍼s some more, (‘cause I’m enamored with the bajillions of styles that are available).

{I’ve also included a few (I think) cute pics of Baby Girl with said 🍼 for you to peruse in case you decide to just skip over my boring 🍼 babble. 😄}

💭Picture it:
these are the Mason 🍼s that will be available for purchase once the teats are glued to the rings. *
(though for now, they’ll only be the 2️⃣ on the left ‘cause we don’t have a teat for the one on the right just yet).

I was elated to find these not long after learning about them.
The tiny one is my fav. I like how the 🍼 rings mimic Mason jar lids, but are actually easier to maintain plastic. 😁

I paired this knit jumper ensemble with our Mason 🍼 ‘cause it immediately made me think “southern belle” when I saw it since it’s got sooooooooo many ruffles and 🎀s (I mean, did you notice the not one, but 2️⃣bows on the 🧦s 🤭).

So, what do you think– does the Mason 🍼 seem sorta southern to you, too? Does it make you picture your babe filling their belly from it as you sip sweet tea from the same style of Mason jar and lazily swinging on a wrap around porch, watching the sun set? 🧋

And that’s all that I have to say about Mason 🍼s.
Hope my babbling wasn’t too torturous for you, and that even without the bottle, you have the pleasure of enjoying a stunning sun set this sensational Saturday afternoon. 🌅

I finished removing the excess sealant from the 🍼 teats on Tuesday, and they’re almost done drying (after soaking for a few days to restore their colouring which was sullied by too much sealant, perhaps).
Sticking the teats to their rings is gonna have to wait a bit, however, since I have to work another shift this evening, and have several more weeks of double shifts scheduled.
I look forward to the days when reborn babes, 🍼s, and binkies are enough to keep our family sheltered and fed. But for now, my time “playing with dolls” and their accessories has to take a back seat to adulting– not sulking, just sharing why there’s such a delay. 😔

Please, lemme know if you’re interested in either of these 2️⃣ 🍼s– or any of the others we’ve got waiting in the works, though, and I’ll put yours in the front of the line of ones that I have to complete, ‘cause I really do ❤️ bringing other collectors joy with binkies, 🍼s, and other baby accessories. 😊

I’m honoured that they’ve trusted me with making so many different kinds of 🍼s for them.
I also like how they challenge me with box openings (‘not ‘cause they’re difficult, but because I prefer to wrap stuff in 📦s versus tissue, so I often end up developing with new packaging techniques each time I fill an order for them).

It’s been a whole week, and I STILL SEE WHITE sealant. This should NOT be! 😠

At this point, I’m wondering whether the sealant would even keep the teats attached to the rings, or not when it eventually dries?! 🤔

Were the 🍼s for me, the teats would be okay as is (since the hole & air vents are sealed, and I only use them for props, not role play). But they’re for other collectors, so I’ll have to peel off the sealant and replace it ALL (deep breath in, and out 😮‍💨).

I am sooooooo NOT looking forward to this tedious task, but better safe that sorry, so in the words of Mario, the infamous video game character, “here we go… “ 😭

I HAD to do it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

The 🍼 teats and rings were (apparently not safely) stashed out of sight drying in a corner (to prevent me from being tempted to tidy them up) when I happened to peek at them and see PURE WHITE sealant in the tub… 😡

So I used cotton swabs to scrape off the excess sealant on the undersides of the rings, and then I squished out more of it that seemed to be preventing the teats from sitting as snuggly into the rings as they should be.

And okay, I also peeled off the dried sealant on the top sides of the teats– but its colour had already changed to clear. 😁

So now maybe the sealant on these things will FINALLY change from white & cloudy, to clear?

Hope your projects are progressing more smoothly than this one is for me. 😝

For those who also enjoy modifying 🍼s and binkies for reborns/ dolls, I figured I’d ramble on some more about sealing 🍼 teats… 😁

Since doing so (quite unsuccessfully *) for the first time a few years ago, I’ve wanted to modify a 🍼 teat with a layer of silicone sooooooo discrete, that it ended up being practically invisible 🫥 ,
but still provides our babes with the protection they need when we’re using prop 🍼s near them.

Well, I think my sealant job on this 🍼’s teat could be considered one of those happy accidents! 🤗

Now that the hole and all of the air vents are sealed, all that’s left to do is play with– I mean test– it (once the sealant used to glue it to the 🍼 ring finally dries 🙃)

How ‘bout you?
When it comes to sealing 🍼 teats, do you think less or more is best?

The reborn community helped me to realize that my first attempts at sealing 🍼s weren’t working because I used the wrong type of sealant on the teats, not my techniques, and we haven’t shipped out ANY 🍼 teats without first testing ‘em to verify that the holes (and air vents, if applicable) were properly sealed.
