Photo shoots are MAGICAL. ✨

Taking an idea from inspiration board → real life → final photo is quite the journey. And when it all comes together? There’s nothing better.

For this shoot, I worked with seven amazing people. We started with headshots, but I knew I wanted something much more unique than a traditional headshot. So I created an inspiration board for each person—posing, styling, energy, and the overall vibe.

Then we created two completely different group looks: one in the trending color chartreuse and another in rich brown tones with a totally different, cool-girl energy.

And getting there? It’s a process. 😅

We pulled from their own closets, added purchases, incorporated Rent the Runway pieces, and styled everyone individually before bringing it all together. Every outfit is considered: What makes this person shine? Does it feel like them? Is it flattering on camera? Does it work with the group?

And a HUGE shout-out to my amazing intern, Emma! She was with me through this entire project from start to finish—and absolutely KILLED it. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Watching her jump in, problem-solve and bring her creativity to the process was such a joy.

Then comes shoot day. Hair. Makeup. Steaming. Fittings. Tiny adjustments. A million details.

And my favorite part? Working with the photographer to bring it all to life—playing with poses, movement, hair, clothing and personality until each person’s energy just oozes through the photo.

By the end, we’re exhausted. 😂

Then the photos arrive a week later…and suddenly you remember exactly why we do it.

Because the final images are SO powerful.

The styling is definitely my favorite part, but the real magic is watching inspiration become reality—and seeing someone look at their photos and think, “WOW. That’s me.”

What a FUN and special day Friday! 💕 I had the pleasure of celebrating my client’s mom for her 80th birthday—and we made a whole experience out of it!

We started at LEIGH’S where I reserved the big room and created a little party setup complete with charcuterie from Graze Craze Grand Rapids | Charcuterie, treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes, and of course… champagne! 🥂

Then it was all about Mom! We shopped, styled, tried on ALL the things, and finished with a little makeup refresh. She looked absolutely stunning—and had SO much fun!

While her Mom was having her moment, I worked with my client, her sister, and her aunt to find some fabulous pieces for them too. Everyone left with things they loved also!!

Then we headed to EVEREVE to finish the day with a few more fun finds. More trying on, more styling, more laughs—and more success!

And THIS is what I love most about what I do. It’s not just shopping. It’s creating an EXPERIENCE. One that feels personal, celebratory, fun—and a little bit fabulous.

Birthday? Bachelorette? Girls’ afternoon? Milestone celebration? Just because?

This is so incredible! A well deserved honor for Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore and especially our amazing CEO Vivian Ehrlich TerMaat who really does deserve this award for all her incredible leadership and vision!!!

Saturday in New York City, I had one of those full-circle moments.

I unexpectedly ran into Stacy London! Years ago, when I was working in corporate buying at Meijer, I had the opportunity to collaborate with her on a project. During that time, we had several conversations about her work as a stylist, and she probably had no idea how much those conversations stayed with me.

In many ways, they inspired me to leave the corporate buying world and start my own styling business a little over eight years ago.

When I first launched my business, I thought it would be a way to semi-retire and do something I loved. Instead, it has become so much more than I ever imagined. I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible clients who have trusted me with their style journeys, and many have become dear friends along the way.

It was such a joy to tell stacylondonreal that she played a part in inspiring this next chapter of my career—something she never realized.

So, thank you, Stacy, for the inspiration. And thank you to every client—past, present, and future—for allowing me to do work that truly fills my heart. I feel incredibly grateful that this is what I’m lucky enough to do every day!

I found an incredible jewelry store in the East Village, and what stood out most was their approach to design. Every piece was created to mix and match effortlessly, making it easy to build a collection that feels unique and versatile.

I loved how they combined gold and silver, even within the same piece, and tied everything together with a modern matte finish. They also had an edgy black metal collection that added another layer of interest.

While I was there, I styled my clients with a bold ring and bracelet stack and a layered necklace look.

Here are a couple tips that make jewelry layering work:
✨ Create dimension by mixing larger statement pieces with smaller, more delicate ones.
✨ Keep a common thread. In this case, everything shared the same matte finish, even though the metals were mixed.
✨ Layer necklaces at different lengths so they create depth and can be worn individually, paired together, or as a complete layered look.

The goal is to build a collection of pieces that work together in multiple combinations, giving you endless styling options.

Here’s a fun challenge: Take a look at the jewelry you already own and experiment with stacking rings or layering necklaces in new ways. You might be surprised by how many fresh combinations you can create without buying a single new piece.

It’s a wrap on our Chicago shopping adventure for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
What a fun three days spent previewing all the new fall arrivals, finding incredible pieces, and shopping for our amazing clients who signed up. It was a long few days, but absolutely worth it!
Now comes one of my favorite parts—try-on sessions and styling appointments! I can’t wait to help everyone put their new looks together so they’re feeling confident and ready for fall.
