From Idea to ʻŌhiʻa Lehua

The moment I saw the finished ʻŌhiʻa Lehua design, my heart skipped a beat.

Behind this one design were so many conversations, ideas, changes, and moments of trial and error.

As a designer, seeing something that once existed only in our imagination finally come to life is always special.

一枚のオヒアレフアのデザインが
完成した姿を見た瞬間、胸が高鳴りました

ここまで来るまでに
何度も話し合い、アイデアを出し合い
試しては変えての繰り返し

デザインは完成した一枚だけではなく
そこにたどり着くまでの時間も大切な一部

だからこそ、形になった瞬間の喜びは特別です

Seasons in Hawaiʻi

Living in Hawaiʻi has changed the way I notice the seasons.

We may not have four dramatic seasons, but the islands are always changing—the light, the breeze, the ocean, the flowers and even the colors around us.

September still feels like summer, but I start noticing those little changes.

Maybe seasons don’t always need to be seen. Sometimes, they are something we feel.

ハワイに暮らしていると
季節の感じ方が少し変わる

はっきりとした四季ではなく
光や風、海の色、花、雨など
自然の小さな変化から季節を感じます

9月はまだまだ夏のよう
それでも少しずつ変わっていくハワイ

季節は「見る」だけでなく
「感じる」ものなのかもしれません

I had the opportunity to meet Wendy F. Hensel, President of the University of Hawaiʻi. As the first woman to permanently lead the UH System, her leadership made me reflect on my own role as a woman and business owner.

Success is not only about what we achieve, but how we use it to contribute to our community.

Olive in Hawaii

There is something about olive that feels naturally at home in Hawaiʻi.

It’s earthy, calm, and elegant without trying too hard.

Against tropical greens, blue skies, and the ocean, olive doesn’t compete with nature—it quietly becomes part of it.

That’s why it’s one of the colors I naturally reach for when designing island wear.

ハワイの自然を目の前にすると
すんなりと景色になじむのが
オリーブカラー

落ち着きがありながら
地味になりすぎず
自然のグリーンや海のブルーとも
美しく調和してくれる色

自然より目立とうとするのではなく
その景色の一部になれるような色だからこそ

History in Pink

I visited the Royal Hawaiian Historic Gallery inside the iconic Pink Palace.

Opened in 2025, this intimate gallery takes you through the story of The Royal Hawaiian—from its opening in 1927 to the Waikīkī landmark we know today.

Historic photographs, original artifacts, and even “Fashion Through the Decades” offer a glimpse into how resort style and Waikīkī have changed over the years.

I especially loved seeing the fashion history.

Sometimes looking back at the past gives us new inspiration for the future.

Historic Galleryを訪れました

1927年のホテル開業から現在まで
“太平洋のピンクパレス”が歩んできた歴史を
貴重な写真や当時の品々とともに
見ることができる小さなギャラリーです

中でも気になったのは
Fashion Through the Decades

時代とともに変化してきた
リゾートファッションを見ることができます

歴史を知ることで
いつも見ているRoyal Hawaiianが
また少し違って見えました

Aloha in Every Detail

Every design begins with a story.

When creating this piece, I wanted it to feel unmistakably Hawaiian—not just in its print, but in the emotion it carries.

That inspiration led me to a three-dimensional design that gently drapes around the neckline, as if the dress itself is wearing a beautiful lei.

In Hawaiʻi, a lei is more than a decoration. It is a symbol of love, welcome, celebration, and connection.

I hope that when someone wears this dress, they feel wrapped in that same spirit of aloha.

Hawaii in Hokuriku

Did you know there is a place called the “Hawaii of Hokuriku” in Japan?

Mizushima is a tiny uninhabited island off the coast of Tsuruga in Fukui Prefecture, known for its beautiful white sand and incredibly clear, emerald-blue water. During the summer season, visitors can reach the island by boat and enjoy this little tropical escape in the Sea of Japan.

And then I found MIZUSHIMA BLUE.

I fell in love with its beautiful blue color and cute tropical packaging at first sight.

The original MIZUSHIMA BLUE is a craft b**r inspired by the colors of Mizushima, with a tropical pineapple flavor and even a touch of Tsuruga’s local oboro kombu. The brand was created to connect Tsuruga with Hawaiʻi, and part of its sales has also been used to support Maui.

Finding a little piece of Hawaiʻi in Japan always makes me happy.

日本にある
「北陸のハワイ」をご存知ですか？

福井県敦賀市の沖に浮かぶ小さな無人島
水島

白い砂浜と透明度の高いエメラルドブルーの海が広がり　その美しさから「北陸のハワイ」と呼ばれています
夏の期間には船で渡ることができる
まさに期間限定の小さな楽園

そして今回出会ったのが
MIZUSHIMA BLUE

水島の海を思わせる鮮やかなブルーと
ハワイを感じるかわいいデザインに一目惚れしました

オリジナルのMIZUSHIMA BLUE
水島の青い海をイメージしたクラフトビール
パイナップルを感じるトロピカルな味わいに
敦賀名産のおぼろ昆布の端材も隠し味として使われているそう

敦賀とハワイをつなぎたいという想いから生まれ
売上の一部をマウイの復興支援に
つなげる活動も行われています

日本を旅しながら
こんなふうに「ハワイ」を見つけると
なんだか嬉しくなりますね

Island Hair Accessories 🌺

A little tropical touch for your everyday style.

We carry Hawaii-inspired flower hair clips at our stores, and I love seeing how one small accessory can instantly add an island feeling to an outfit.

Since my hair is lighter, I personally love choosing colors that create a beautiful contrast against it.

And around Hawaiʻi, you’ll often see local girls wearing their favorite flower clips in their own way.

Bright colors, soft colors, one flower or a few together…

This little island trend looks like it’s here to stay.
