Happy Aloha Friday! 🌺 As Missing Polynesia approaches 6 years of designing for students performing at the Punahou Holokū, we’re honored to share that Tonga was added to the lineup for the first time in history.

The video you’re watching captures something truly special — Telesia “Auntie Sia” Tonga and Walter Tonga pouring countless hours into teaching the students the language, movement, and heart of Tongan culture. Their dedication to passing down tradition is the soul of this performance, and we are so grateful to witness it.

Behind the scenes, Meilin matches that same devotion as the artist and designer of Missing Polynesia. Every garment is meticulously crafted — from hand-drawn motifs to the careful selection of colors and patterns that honor each island’s story. The hours she spends researching, sketching, and refining are what make every piece feel as meaningful as the dance itself.

Part 1 of the BTS for the very first Tongan performance at the Holokū. Huge mahalo to the Tonga ʻOhana, Kumu Hina, and Uncle Tivaini Tatofi for bringing the music to life. What an epic time. 🇹🇴
