I've been working a lot on new designs over the past few months. Designing, prototyping, testing, revising... it all takes a lot of time. But I'm finally feeling ready to release a new wave of accessories and notions! Are you ready for new handmade shawl pins, closures, and buttons?

I'll be releasing these new products over the next two months and all will be available by November 1st so you can get your holiday orders in! Online sales and shipping services are still going to be extra busy this year, so order early and remember to be kind to your postal workers! 📫💖

Do you know what "fine silver fusing" is? It's the technique I use to make my completely seamless and naturally hypoallergenic stitch markers.

The process of joining metal with heat often requires solder. The metals used in solder alloys can be reactive to those with sensitive metal allergies. Since my stitch markers are intended to be in your hands all the time, I wanted these stitch markers to be as accessible and allergy friendly as possible. So I chose to use a pure metal and a solderless construction.

All my stitch markers are made from rings of fine silver. Fine silver is another way of saying pure silver and like other pure precious metals (24k gold, platinum), it is naturally hypoallergenic and non-reactive with our skin. To close these rings so they don't snag your yarn I could solder them together but we just discussed why I avoid that. Instead I fuse the rings together. Fusing is an amazing process where these rings are brought just to the melting point of silver. They start to turn liquid and without a careful hand they would turn to puddles of molten metal. With precise control of the heat and the help of surface tension, the metal at the seam of the ring turns liquid and grabs on to itself. The hot silver atoms from each end of the ring combine into one complete structure, eliminating any seam or gap in the ring. Then the heat is removed from the liquid silver and the ring solidifies. I repeat this process of controlled melting for every stitch marker I make to ensure that I have a product that will never snag your knitting and will never be uncomfortable for those with metal allergies. And let's be honest, the pure silver is also really pretty!

There's been a noticeable increase in online shopping the past two months and I am sure it's going to keep ramping up all the way into mid December. If you're looking for a Knitpossible piece as a holiday gift, like this pure silver penannular brooch for all your shawl-securing needs, I absolutely recommend getting your order in as soon as possible. I also recommend shopping online through your favorite LYS to support small businesses in this time of reduced foot traffic.
For the whole week I've partnered with my local yarn store, to put together a trunk show that showcases my essential Knitpossible pieces. If you're feeling festive, head over to The Black Squirrel's online shop to see my products alongside their beautiful hand dyed yarns and extra cute pins, stickers, and project bags. It's a great place to show your support for minority-owned fiber arts businesses and to get some really awesome holiday gifts for yourself and your knitting friends!
The trunk show lasts until this Friday so check it out while you still have time!

I finally took the time while fulfilling orders today to get some pictures of my process. Here I'm working on a shiny silver penannular, making sure the edges are soft and safe for your knitted accessories. These penannulars have been my most popular products since I first started selling them in 2016. I love them just as much as you do, and I'm so happy when this perfect little pin encourages you to show off your handknits. We all should be proud of what we create!

I don't know about you, but I love gemstones. And one of the ways I'm showing my love for gemstones is by releasing an assortment of gemstone accessories this fall! You can expect to see all new pins, penannulars, and closures for your woolens on my shop starting on October 1st. What could be better way to celebrate the coming of cooler weather than to break out your favorite scarf or shawl and secure it snug around your neck with a new piece of knitting jewelry?

I will be posting more previews of these new designs as we come closer to the beginning of fall. I have a lot planned! Tell me, is there a special gemstone you hope to see in the release?

I'm finally making my handmade fiber arts accessories available again. I have taken a long break to pursue my career in fine jewelry. I graduated from the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in 2017, worked at a jewelry store until 2018, and now I'm almost through one full year at Melissa Joy Manning as a production jeweler. So much stability has come from this new job and that stability allows me to pursue this adventure in fiber arts once more.
I have plans for new designs but for now you can find my classic beaded stitch markers, penannulars, and hook style cable needles. It's good to be back!

It's cold in the Midwest again so I am still bundled up in layers and layers of knitwear. I won't complain too much about the chill because it's a great excuse to wear this bulky weight cashmere shawl! The yarn was a gift from a dear friend and so soft it's almost criminal.
What cozy accessories have you been wearing this winter?

It all starts with a sketch! I'm planning out a design for a penannular brooch that's specifically for knitted and crocheted accessories. Would you like this in silver, brass, or copper? Well you're in luck because I'm going to try all of them! Summer is wonderful, but I think as wool workers, we all look forward to weather that allows us to show off our work. These penannulars will make a great addition to any hand knit shawl, scarf, extra long cowl, cape, poncho - the possibilities are endless!

Rose quartz is said to promote love in all things. It brings about a motherly attitude and helps you see the beauty in everything.
Whether or not you believe in that mumbo jumbo, it's still nice to think about. Even if crystals don't have magical powers, they still remind you of the magic that is inside you. I think mysticism and psychology go hand in hand.

What do you find beautiful? Tell me in the comments!
