Knits by Naima is a handcrafted knit and crochet accessories brand for the modern woman.

I have been knitting since 2013 after I learned the basics in at a knitting club from my job in Seattle. Once I learned the basics, I was hooked and couldn't put my needles down! I have taught myself how to make hats, scarves and most recently, mittens! Each of the listings in my shop is inspired by the different cities I have lived in after leaving my parent's nest in Northern New Jersey in 2009.

I graduated from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH and then ventured even further to Seattle, WA. After my two year stint, I decided that it was time for a change and settled on Dallas, TX but when the east coast called my name, I decided to head back closer to home in Alexandria, VA. I love to make things for my friends and family and hope that I can make items for you and your loved ones as well. Knitting has not only become a passion of mine but also a way to wind down and relax as it is my way of practicing self-care.

No one wants sand in their shoes! Why venture to the desert when you can bring the desert to you?
I am in love with the new High Desert yarn from ! It is super squishy but also very soft. It has been my recent go to yarn for my cold-weather projects (yes, it is still cold here in the DC area) and I can’t wait for you to try it. The stitch definition on it is everything and this beautiful yarn can be put in the washing machine, because I love spending my time making, not hand washing.
This spun wool yarn comes in 12 vibrantly beautiful colors in not only sport but worsted weight, so it is great for all types of projects.

As 2020 comes to a close, its important to me to reflect on everything from this past year. This year was difficult for a lot of reasons, from the stress and fear of the pandemic and the election, to the killing of unarmed Blacks and the unexpected passing of my grandmother.
On the other hand, I’m grateful for the blessings that this year also brought; finding a new corporate job where I’m able to serve those usually unable to obtain access to financial planning (that allows me to be remote) and feeling valued, more conversations with friends and family, learning how to bake, my long term relationship becoming a cohabitating relationship and all of these beautiful baby blankets I made for friends!
I’m excited for what 2021 has in store for Knits By Naima as well as personally.
