Soft texture, movement, and a little bit of sunshine. ☀️

This custom piece pairs a linen liner with a wavy silver frame, creating a layered look that feels both relaxed and refined. The subtle texture of the liner softens the metallic finish, while the rippled profile adds movement that quietly echoes the brushstrokes of the painting itself.

Framing is never just about protecting the artwork. It’s about creating a conversation between the piece, the space, and the feeling you want it to hold.

We love how this one feels fresh, airy, and timeless all at once.

There’s something powerful about contrast.

This striking piece by Leslie Charleville pairs raw, organic texture with refined detail and movement. We leaned into that tension with a custom gilded frame that adds warmth, depth, and just the right amount of drama without competing with the work itself.

Every curve, every carved detail, every finish choice was intentional. The goal is never just to frame the piece, but to elevate how it lives in a space.

This one feels timeless, a little unexpected, and completely unforgettable.

A frame that truly holds its own.

This one is all about texture and presence. A chunky, hand-carved gold ziggurat frame that brings depth, movement, and a quiet boldness to the piece it surrounds.

Paired here with a vintage Brazilian painting full of life and story, the frame doesn’t compete it enhances. The rhythm of the carving echoes the energy of the brushstrokes, creating something that feels layered, collected, and intentional.

We’re always drawn to pieces like this. Ones that feel a little unexpected, a little imperfect, and completely one of a kind.

Because the right frame doesn’t just finish a piece
it becomes part of it’s story.

Some pieces ask for a frame that disappears.
Others deserve a frame that quietly elevates the entire experience.

For this textured work, we designed a deep floating presentation with a soft linen liner that gives the piece room to breathe while highlighting its raw surface and natural tones. The hand finished frame adds depth and structure without competing with the artwork itself.

Custom framing is about balance. Texture. Space. And the subtle details that allow the art to speak.

Every project is built one piece at a time in our Alexandria workshop.

Framing as storytelling

This beautifully detailed frame, inspired by traditional Indian motifs, was chosen to complement a serene riverside scene titled Silk Merchants, India. The carved pattern and warm gilded tones echo the movement of the trees and the richness of the landscape, creating harmony between artwork and frame.

At Erickson & Ripper, we believe the frame should never overpower the art — it should extend it. The subtle texture, hand-finished detailing, and architectural corner joinery turn this piece into something timeless and transportive.

Custom framing is about more than preservation. It is about intention, history, and honoring the story within the work.

This one deserved the full treatment.

A signed Washington Capitals jersey, carefully sewn down and framed in a black cube frame to give it presence, protection, and room to breathe. Every signature stays visible. Every detail stays intentional.

At Erickson Ripper Framing, sports memorabilia isn’t just mounted. It’s honored. Built to last. Designed to feel as iconic as the moments it represents.

Because pieces like this aren’t just collectibles.
They’re living history.

A record with a story, framed to be remembered.

This vintage Columbia record and its original Library of Congress sleeve are suspended in a wine red suede shadow box, finished with a warm gilded frame that lets every detail speak. From the handwritten script to the Capitol dome etched into the vinyl, this piece carries history, texture, and soul.

At Erickson Ripper Framing, we believe framing isn’t about preserving objects. It’s about honoring where they’ve been and giving them a place to live beautifully now. Thoughtful materials, intentional spacing, and craftsmanship that never competes with the story, only elevates it.

Two timeless beauties, thoughtfully preserved.

We recently had the honor of framing two original works by James Montgomery Flagg, each still holding onto their vintage frames. Instead of replacing history, we leaned into it.

The original frames were carefully preserved and incorporated as part of the matting design — creating depth, contrast, and a layered story that honors both the artwork and its journey.

Rich black lacquer. Textured crimson mat. The warmth of aged paper. Every detail chosen to elevate without overpowering.

At Erickson & Ripper, framing isn’t just about what surrounds the art — it’s about protecting its legacy while letting it speak.

If you have a piece with history, let’s design around it.

Le soleil rouge (The Red Sun)
Color lithograph, 1974
by Joan Miró

Miró’s work reminds us that restraint can be powerful. A handful of lines. Two small suns. Endless movement.

In Le soleil rouge, Miró balances spontaneity with precision. The wandering black lines create tension and rhythm, while the red and yellow suns ground the composition with warmth and emotion. Nothing is accidental. Every mark holds its own space.

We chose a soft, light frame to honor the delicacy of the paper and allow the work to breathe. The goal is always the same. To support the art without overpowering it. To let the piece speak for itself.

This is framing as quiet collaboration.

✨ Framed with intention ✨

This striking piece came to life through thoughtful framing that lets the artwork speak while adding depth, contrast, and presence. The bold red mat pulls forward the energy of the piece, while the soft gray frame grounds it — creating a balance between movement and stillness, power and precision.

We believe framing is part of the art itself. Every choice, from mat color to frame profile, is made to honor the story the artist is telling and elevate how it lives in your space.

Sometimes the right frame doesn’t just hold the art — it completes it.
