Sitting at the table and gazing out the window, I reflected on my journey. As I wondered why it had unfolded this way, I heard:
Remembering who you are is the first step—the doorway to your truest self. From there, it is time to till, plant, and grow.
Tilling: This is the inner work—the healing of the versions of you shaped by external ideas and other people’s expectations. It means going inward to unearth beliefs you adopted but never chose. It is letting go of untruths that never felt right, disrupting what keeps you from expanding, and learning to embrace yourself fully. It is also forgiveness—for yourself and for others—and that is freedom. This is where you lay your foundation.
Plant: Name your beliefs, morals, values, and truths—these are your seeds. Nourish them with learning, ancestor veneration, self-love, meaningful friendships, and by honoring every stage of who you are.
Grow: Through tilling you build a foundation; through planting you shape your own belief system. Growth comes from returning to this cycle as often as you need. It is ongoing and essential to your journey.
You are never alone in this process. You will draw your tribe, and we will walk beside you. Not every moment will be easy—at times it may feel as if everything has flipped—but even in chaos, you are held. We are your net when you fall, helping you rise again. We are your strength until you remember your own. Your journey has purpose, and it always will.
