I asked ChatGPT to paint a picture of what my success looks like.

What came back made me reflect on my journey.

Years ago, my son told me, “Mom, you should be a motivational speaker.” Not long after, I began hearing the words Divine By Design. I didn’t fully understand the vision, but I followed it.

Years later, I was guided to Ifa.

That journey began with a book I found in a bookstore in Leimert Park. I had never heard of it, but something in me told me to buy it. The Handbook of Yoruba Religious Concepts by Baba Ifa Karade sat on my bookshelf for over a year.

Then I joined a TikTok live with Tina C. Hines, where I connected with my late Iyanifa Shondra Cheris. She became my introduction to Ifa. One night, she recommended the very book that had called to me more than a year before.

That moment changed everything.

Ifa felt like home. It gave me a peace and sense of belonging I had been searching for.

What I thought was simply a spiritual journey became a journey of remembering—remembering who I am, understanding my Ori, my destiny, my lineage, and my purpose.

After my Iyanifa transitioned, I was asked to continue the Ile for the community. I said yes, not fully understanding what that yes would require of me. That yes eventually led me to take the next step in my journey as an Iyanifa.

Looking back, I can see how everything was connected.

Divine By Design became the message.

Ile Chief Anisulaja became the community.

And both are rooted in the same mission:

Remember Who You Are.

Today, I see success differently.

Success is not just money or recognition.

Success is legacy.

For me, it is creating something that helps people remember themselves, learn, grow, align with their Ori, honor their lineage, and walk boldly in their purpose.

The vision I was given years ago is finally making sense.

And I’m still becoming.

Remember Who You Are

You are never truly disconnected from who you are.

Divine day, everyone. I am Iyanifa Vivian. 💛

In this life, we are all faced with choices. Every choice becomes a step on the path our Ori has prepared for us.

Some will choose the road that is familiar, where every step seems visible and predictable. Others will answer the call of their Ori and walk the path that is less traveled—a path that requires faith, courage, and surrender because its lessons cannot be seen in advance.

Ifá teaches us that our greatest guide is not what our eyes can see, but what our Ori knows.

Whatever path you choose, let it be a choice that honors your Ori, your destiny, and your character (Iwa Pele). Do not walk a path simply because it is comfortable or because others expect it of you. Walk the one that brings you into alignment with who you were created to become.

If your Ori calls you to the unknown, embrace it with courage. Go within. Pray. Listen. Build your character. Trust the wisdom of the ancestors and the guidance of Orisa. Every challenge carries a lesson, and every lesson brings you closer to your divine purpose.

As you walk, don't become so focused on reaching the destination that you miss the beauty of the journey. Ifá reminds us that every experience is an opportunity to grow, remember who we are, and return to ourselves.

A few days after my initiation into Ifá, I took this picture. In that moment, I felt light, renewed, and ready. What I didn’t know was that this was only the beginning of my journey.

I didn’t know the depth of the inner work that was waiting for me. I didn’t know the tears that would fall, the bandages that would be removed, or the wounds that I had buried deep within my womb that would rise to the surface to be healed.

I didn’t know the fear, the doubt, the betrayal, and the pain that I had carried would have to be faced in order for me to truly see myself.

Because sometimes, we look at initiation as a moment where we receive a title—something to celebrate and honor. And it is a beautiful honor. But what we don’t always talk about is the process of becoming the person who can truly embody that title.

Ifá is not just about receiving a title. Ifá is about remembering your destiny. It is a sacred system that guides us back into alignment with the path our Ori has chosen.

And that alignment is not always easy. It is not always comfortable. Sometimes it requires us to confront the parts of ourselves we have hidden, the pain we have protected, and the stories we have carried for too long.

To walk fully in alignment with destiny, the mind, body, and spirit must be prepared to receive it. Anything within us that is out of balance must be brought into awareness. The trauma we have held onto must be released so there is space for growth, healing, and purpose.

Looking at this picture now, I smile because I truly had no idea what was ahead of me. But I am grateful I said yes to my path. I am grateful I chose truth over comfort. I am grateful I answered the call.

There is still work to do. Growth is a lifelong journey. But I know now that I am not walking this path alone.

And that is a beautiful feeling.
