Apparently it’s Back-to-School season, so I figured I should participate too. 😂📚👓
Tomorrow I begin my 40th YEAR OF WORK. Yes… 40 YEARS. I started working when dinosaurs still accepted personal checks and “the cloud” was just something that ruined your beach day.
So here’s my official first-day photo:
🎒 Age: 53¾
👨🏫 Teacher: Dr. Eye Roll
🏫 School: The School of Hard Nock’s
📅 Grade: Year 40 of employment
🎯 When I grow up: I’d like to be retired with perfect vision.
After four decades in the workforce, I’ve learned a few important lessons: coffee is a food group, Mondays are suspicious, reading glasses eventually come for ALL of us, and apparently you can become an eye doctor and still spend your entire career asking people, “Which is better… one… or two?” 😂
Meanwhile, kids everywhere are complaining about going back to school. Kids, enjoy recess while you can. Someday your “recess” will be standing in the break room eating something over the sink while answering a text. 🤣
Here’s to Year 40. I may not know what I want to be when I grow up yet, but I’m starting to think retirement has potential. 😎
