📊 7 signs you are further ahead than you think, even if it does not feel like it:
You know roughly what you spend in a month. Most people genuinely do not. Awareness is the whole first half of this.
You have money coming out before you see it. A 401(k), an auto-transfer, anything. That single mechanism outperforms most people's entire strategy.
A surprise $1,000 bill would be annoying rather than catastrophic. That gap between annoying and catastrophic is enormous and you crossed it at some point without noticing.
You have no credit card balance you are carrying month to month. About 45% of American households do. If you are not one of them, you are already ahead of nearly half the country.
You have said no to something in the last year because it was not in the plan. That is not deprivation. That is a functioning plan.
You know what your household would do if one income stopped tomorrow. Even a rough answer. Most people have never let themselves think about it.
You are reading a money page at 7:30 at night instead of scrolling something easier. I am half joking. Only half.
The comparison problem is that you are measuring your inside against everyone else's outside. Their outside is financed.
You are not behind. You are just the only person you have full information about.
