Our Meet the Maker Spotlight is on Heather today!
Heather has been an avid reader all her life. Her Blind Date with a Book sets allow her to combine her love of reading with crafting and creating for others.
The Blind Date books are gently-used books wrapped in brown paper, with a few clues about the book without giving away the title or author. Tucked into the folds of the paper cover are bookmarks, stickers, Post-It notes, and other fun book-related surprises.
Each Blind Date book is different. Heather acquires the gently-used books at library sales, thrift shops, from friends, and from her own bookshelves, then has fun wrapping and decorating each one. Some people buy the books to read themselves, but many give them as gifts to friends, book club buddies, teachers, coworkers, and family.
She and her husband, Jim, live in Iowa City and have two adult children. She’s happy to deliver the books to Tweedle Dee’s because that gives her an opportunity to get together for coffee or lunch with her daughter, who lives in the Des Moines area.
