Sometimes cushions decide to jump ship.

This Sessa Key Largo 36 lost one half of its large sun pad, leaving its twin behind.

Replacing both cushions would have created a perfect match, but that wasn't the goal for this project. Instead, I tracked down the closest vinyl I could in both color and texture and built a replacement to complement the existing cushion.

Is it a perfect match? No. Years of sun, salt, sunscreen, and weather leave their mark. But over time, the new cushion will settle in, and the two will meet somewhere in the middle.

Every project is different, and the right solution isn't always replacing everything. Sometimes it's about making the new piece look like it belongs.

That's what custom work is all about.

People usually notice the finished product…

But a canvas project is only as good as its template.

If the template isn't right, it doesn't matter how straight the stitching is, how well the hardware is reinforced or how pretty it looks. Everything starts here.

The fundamentals aren't flashy, but they're what make a custom fit possible.

This 2001 Moody 54 received a complete dodger remake with new canvas and clear panels, bringing back the visibility, protection, and clean lines the original had lost over time.

And I'll admit, had a lot of fun with this one. The Capri Blue Sunbrella was a refreshing change of pace from the more traditional canvas colors we see day to day, and it couldn't have suited this boat better.

One of my favorite kinds of projects: preserving what works, improving what doesn't, and getting a boat ready for many more seasons on the water.
