In a moment of discouragement this week I sat down on the stairs, in a puff-sleeved dress, hugged my knees and imagined another girl sitting on the stairs in a dress somewhere, hugging her knees, feeling discouraged. And I said to her: “It’s gonna work out for us, it’s gonna work out”.
Whatever you’re going through, somebody else is going through it too and it’s going to work out. 🤍

META | Favorite look from The Met Gala & other Metaphors ➡️…

I keep saying it, but one of these days we will have a workshop in the shop where you can come and make your own quilt purse… these are made completely by hand, every stitch completed with a needle and thread running between our own two finger tips. It takes forever but the process is so worth it. Satisfaction at its best. Labor turned into cozy rest.
Quilts are such a precise metaphor for the loves we experience throughout our short door dash on the timeline~ nothing forgotten, everything remembered, nothing lost, everything found; chaos to order, zoomed in to zoomed out, unlikely pieces coming together to make a new triumphant story out of battle-worn scraps, frayed edges mended by making connections with other frayed edges~ reinforcing the theory that: YOU DID NOT WASTE YOUR LOVE EVER. It was only being expanded upon~ recycled, reused, repurposed, and reimagined, to create something soft and warm, unique and precious, gentle and protective~ the shape of us~ a shell left on the sand after our spirit ascends. So be it. Amen. 🙏🏻☺️🤍

Hey ladybug.🐞Have you told yourself lately that you love you? Have you told you there’s no one else above you? Have you remembered you’re beautiful? No time like the present…
SHINE your light NOW. Put your best foot ONWARD. Surround yourself with beauty. You’re the x marks the spot. You’re the treasure. Maybe you feel beat up,
but just stay in the game a little longer!
I’m rooting for you.

I have started a new habit of making a list in the morning, of things that would make my day great – the rule is it can only be things I can control.
So I wouldn’t write: “Today would be great if someone bought me tulips”. But I would write: “Buy myself tulips”.

At the end of the day I make another list, of things that actually DID make my day great. The best thing about this, is that every day there are SURPRISES, wonderful things that happen that I never could’ve known to write down.

Embracing surprise in my life is the greatest thing I can do right now. Surprise is the gift.

I’ll be your crying shoulder.

Happy first day of Spring. 🌸
I’ve still been making my collages - my art therapy- and having a few friends over to cut and glue paper together on Saturday night- with magazines strewn out on the floor between our knees and our cups of tea and our feelings- we’re always so refreshed afterwards- that’s just what happens when you make something that shows your insides on your outsides though.🌷
Eventually I wanna open it up to everyone, to come and collage one night a month. It makes magic HAPPEN.

Maybe far away
Or maybe real nearby
He may be pouring her coffee
She may be straightening his tie
Maybe in a house
All hidden by a hill
She's sitting playing piano
He's sitting paying a bill...

I feel like the dresses in the shop sing this song to eachother.

Won’t you please come get your baby, maybe...?

The shop is open TOMORROW.
It’s only a day away. 🎈

Yay, it’s another Friday, but this one is special because it’s a “Color the Town” Friday, which means I have another banner up for a local graduating class.
Congratulations to Prospect High School seniors. Especially proud of you.💙💛

MOOD & MOMENT
Lost and light-hearted, wandering a rain-shined cobblestone street, getting to the meet-cute eventually, already in the romance.

I renewed some old “outerwear” listings on Etsy this afternoon- cashmere, fur, and suede. It had been awhile! I’ll be posting this coat shortly. Comment 🙋‍♀️ if you want a tag.

The most remarkable thing happened yesterday after I posted the picture of my tree and the doves; the mailman delivered a package and greeted me with a question.
“Do you know what this is?”
“Nooo?” I answered, curious.
“I think it’s broken,” he said.
Then he proceeded to shake it and we both agreed we heard the same delicate tinkling bell of shards of glass.
At first I set it aside to be discarded, but then later I was prompted to open it up. Sure enough, it was just as it sounded- shattered pieces of crystal in a flimsy box.
But there was one piece that was bigger than the rest, a different shape, and still intact, held together by the sticker that marked the serving bowl it used to be when it was whole. As I cradled that one perfectly broken piece in my hand I became overwhelmed with delight- it was clearly making the shape of a little bird. All the other pieces had been smashed and crushed, but what remained was a peaceful dove.
Though it feels like 2020 was sent to us as a damaged package, there still might be a hidden treasure we receive in it, if we open it up and look a little closer.
