October is ADHD Awareness Month! 🧡🧡🧡
Orange is the color of ADHD awareness, and so I’m launching these awesome orange earrings!! (Perfect for October too, right?)
Also, for the entire month of October, I’m donating a portion of my sales to CHADD, an organization that’s committed to improving the lives of people affected by ADHD.
For many people, especially women and girls, ADHD is invisible. So much so that it can even be invisible to the person who has it.
I myself was only just diagnosed a few months ago at the age of 37. "How did I not see what was right in front of me this whole time?" were the words going through my mind when I began to suspect it.
The fact is, ADHD is very often missed in girls and women. We tend to be the quiet, daydreamy ones, but the outward hyperactivity you often associate with ADHD is all actually happening under the surface, inside our brains.
And so, ADHD in women and girls is often misdiagnosed as anxiety. That was certainly the case for me.
I often now wonder how things could have been different if I had known sooner. And so now that I do know, I want to help give other people that chance.
This article is one of the best (and most heart-wrenching) accounts I’ve read about what ADHD can really feel like inside: https://www.additudemag.com/slideshows/silent-suffering-of-adhd-in-adults/
If any of it resonates with you, consider looking into a diagnosis. Or if it reminds you of someone you know, pass it along!
Thanks for indulging me in this little write up. Dream big, friends 🤗🧡
