After watching him cross the St. John river, it was a game of hide and seek on Saturday morning with this little buck. Never a dull moment in the north Maine woods.

Life has been heavy for our family lately, and some days it feels like the weight of the world never slows down. But this morning, for a little while, it did.

Sitting beside Kendrick as the sun broke over the trees and listening to the woods come alive reminded me how important these quiet moments really are. Watching the turkeys fly down from their roost, hearing his excitement, and simply being together felt like medicine for the soul.

Kendrick was so proud to harvest a handsome jake to help provide food for our family’s table, especially on our own family land. But more importantly, he’s learning something far greater than hunting itself. He’s learning about tradition, gratitude, patience, and the kind of memories that stay with you long after the season ends.

These mornings aren’t really about the harvest. They’re about time together. They’re about slowing down long enough to appreciate what truly matters. One day he may forget the details of this hunt, but I hope he never forgets how much I loved standing beside him in those woods.

I couldn’t be more proud of the young man he is becoming, and I thank God for moments like these that remind us what really matters in life.

🦃 Big shoutout to Luke for putting the hammer down on this 20.5lb Maine beauty during the youth hunt! 🦃

Luke and his dad Jake are no strangers to the Maine woods. Year after year, they are both successful during the turkey and deer seasons!

What started out as a scouting trip and blind set up turned into an awesome hunt. Luke and Dad set up the blind, settled in for just a half hour set knowing they had to be home for the Kentucky Derby. Birds came out of the woods. When they finally came into range, 30 yards Luke put the hammer down.

Congrats men!!!
