After years of searching for a suitable wallet to no avail, we began developing the STOW wallet in October 2017. Then ensued a 10-month effort of designing, engin

eering, prototyping, and refining my ideal minimalist wallet. Before we were able to launch, our entire manufacturing facility, as well as our home, prototypes, machines, tools, and everything else we owned, was burned in the July 2018 Northern California Carr Wildfire. The disaster was devastating, but it wasn’t enough to destroy our vision. In the the aftermath of the fire, work on the wallet continued. Failure just wasn't an option.

15 months of hard work, revisions, and dedication later, the STOW was ready to be introduced to the world. This project was a big step toward helping AKEENi rise from the ashes—literally. We are extremely excited to present our innovative wallets, the STOW and XSTO (second generation) to the world. Thanks for your support! The AKEENi Team

In 2018, the Carr Fire engulfed our home and manufacturing facility. At the time, it was the sixth most destructive fire in California wildfire history - destroying more than 1,600 residences. Ironically, we had recently completed upgrading our machine shop and our first commercial production run of our original STOW wallet.

As the fire approached our property, we could hear propane tanks on the neighboring properties exploding. We held out as long as we could, but eventually were forced to evacuate.

When we were allowed to return “home”, we sifted through the debris and ashes,
eventually uncovering one of our wallets. Although we were unsure if we could rebuild,
finding this wallet gave us hope for the future.

Despite the overwhelming circumstances, this disaster banded our family together with the goal of rebuilding AKEENi. Today, we are still 100% family-owned and our XSTO Aluminum Wallet has become one of the top-rated minimalist wallets around the world.

If you’ve purchased an AKEENi wallet before, we hope you know that your support has had a real impact on our family and our business. What started again after the fire hasonly been possible because people believed in what we were building.

Most modern contactless cards use encrypted, one-time transaction data, which makes real-world RFID theft uncommon.
That said, metal naturally interferes with radio signals.
Because the XSTO is built from precision-machined aluminum, the material itself helps reduce RFID signal transmission without adding extra layers or gimmicks.
