This button is older than a lot of our customers.

Found this piece in the archive. Hand-finished hardware, a tag that just reads "Original Obermeyer, since 1947." Somebody cared about a detail nobody would ever really notice.

That's still how we build things. The zip pull on this year's Furry Fleece Top gets the same attention this button got seventy-plus years ago. Details make the gear. They always have.

Klaus's 100th birthday secret, in full: swim before breakfast, hit the gym, wipe the mirror clean, and decide right then what kind of day you're going to have.

Back in 2019, when Klaus Obermeyer turned 100, The Aspen Times asked him for his secret. He gave it up without much fuss: swim a half mile before breakfast, get to the gym, and every morning, before anything else, wipe the mirror clean.

That last part was the real answer. Klaus called it the mirror of perception, the choice you make every single day about whether to see the mountain, the weather, and the whole business of getting older as something to love or something to dread. He picked love. Every morning, on purpose.

Nearly eighty years since he first strapped into skis in Aspen, that's still the whole philosophy behind everything we make.

Don't know about you, but we're choosing fun too. What's your version of wiping the mirror clean before the day starts?

Treat the mountain like a lab. Treat every drop like the only experiment that matters.

That’s how Colter Hinchliffe, Tim Durtschi, and Anna Tedesco ski, and it’s how our gear gets tested. All three are in ‘Actually, It Is Rocket Science’, Teton Gravity Research's 31st annual film.

Color moves downhill before the snow does. Up above treeline, the tundra's already turning, first sign that summer's on its way out. The aspens won't catch up for a few more weeks yet, but this is how it always starts.

There's a version of you that's up before the lifts start turning, and a version that's perfectly happy showing up for the view and a long lunch. Neither one is wrong. They just dress differently for the day.

We built this one for anyone who's ever stood in a lift line wondering if they layered right. Swipe through, and tell us in the comments: first chair or first coffee?

Klaus has a theory about why he was 'first' at so many things. It has nothing to do with talent.

The Katze Suit isn't new. It's been part of the lineup since the 60s, a one-piece suit built on the idea Klaus and Nome pioneered: don't make skiers choose between function and style.

This season's Katze carries the name forward, still built with 4-way stretch fabric from Schoeller, the Swiss textile house Obermeyer has partnered with since 1965. Six decades, same fabric partner, same fit-first philosophy the Katze started with.

Long before Aspen had lifts or a reputation, people skied through town because that's just how you got where you were going. No powder days, no influencers, just snow, boots, and somewhere to be.

We've been outfitting people for these mountains since before any of that existed. Reason hasn't changed: bundle up, get outside, get where you're going. Doesn't matter if that's Ajax or your driveway.

Somebody once asked Klaus, straight-faced, if he was 'quite an accomplished yodeler.' Turns out that was an understatement.

He's been doing it down Gent's Ridge since his ski instructor days, and a recording still gets radio play on Aspen powder mornings. This is just Klaus being Klaus.

Anyone else have a favorite Klaus moment on tape?

If you were a kid in the 90s, there's a decent chance you owned a suit exactly like one of these. Neon, color-blocked, built to be seen from the chairlift.

Where are our 90s kids at? Which one was you: the pink and green or the polka dots?
