Aspen Mountain has been our home hill since its very first season in 1947. Plenty has changed since Klaus first skied it, but the best way to spend a day up there hasn't: warm up on the groomers, chase the light around Bell Mountain, and finish top to bottom into town. And you don't need a big budget to do it. Free coffee at the gondola, cheap lunch at Big Wrap, a b**r at Zane's. All our best tips on the blog. Link in the comments.

Ask Klaus about retirement and he'll tell you the body doesn't get the memo. His whole philosophy comes down to staying on your feet long enough to let nature do the rest, gravity will get you downhill, he says, you just have to still be standing at the top when it does. Eighty five, ninety, a hundred: he's convinced all of it can still be a good year on the mountain.
