It’s International Women’s Day + Women’s History Month, and we are so fortunate to be surrounded by such resilient, creative, ambitious, inspiring women on our team.

TJ Reid, Billy’s mom, personified just that as the catalyst of the Billy Reid brand. As a child, Billy witnessed his mom hosting boutique-style events at his grandmother’s home, featuring fashion from around the world. It was this warmth and welcome that provided the template for how we gather today; sharing our love of style, art, music, food and all the wonderful things that bring people together. Her legacy lives on here at Billy Reid, through Billy, her grandchildren, and each person we welcome through our doors with the warmth and hospitality she consistently instilled.

In honor of her spirit, we celebrate the women we’ve had the pleasure of partnering, collaborating, and building community with over the last year. Starting first and foremost with those on our team, to the changemakers, artists, musicians, chefs, bakers, makers and beyond — we are celebrating the women that make our world so special.

This past weekend, we celebrated with baker and entrepreneur Kalyn Akers, who provided the king cakes for our in-store Mardi Gras events. We’ll also celebrate with a performance by Muscle Shoals’ very own Mckenzie Lockhart next week at our Florence shop and with a Women’s Brunch in early April at our Nashville shop, hosted by our dear friend Shelly Colvin. Women help make the world go ‘round, and we wouldn’t want to know it any other way.

When the bustle of the city becomes too much, when the waves crashing on the coast get too loud, the desert offers complete serenity. For our next getaway capsule, we’re embracing the tranquil desert landscape and all of its flourishes: modern architecture, cerulean pools, and the sun’s spectrum of colors as it sets over the horizon each night. Our latest additions to the collection are primed for the desert’s arid climate - a balance of hot days and cold nights, and total peace.

“My first time in the desert was a road trip in my early 20s from Louisiana to Los Angeles - we drove from LA to LA. The colors and shades of the desert landscape were mesmerizing in person, I reference those memories still today.” - Billy

Charleston friends! Join us this Thursday, March 6th, during the Charleston Wine + Food Festival for an intimate evening with some of our favorite flavors from around the city as we highlight Charleston’s unique culinary scene.

Our friend and restaurateur Edward Crouse’s place, Babas, will be whipping up delicious bites and High Wire Distilling will be conducting tastings of their 100% local bourbon, Jimmy Red. We’re also bringing in local acoustic duo Finnegan Bell to play a set. Stop by for a drink, a bite, and to hear some local tunes while you’re around town!

Ben Jaffe of Preservation Hall Jazz Band repping Billy Reid for the SNL 50th Celebration in New York City.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band are longtime friends and performed at Shindig No. 9 at the Shoals Theatre back in 2017. They then hopped over to our local Wilson Park to join the legendary Del McCroury Band for their Shindig set in downtown Florence, AL. We haven’t forgotten that show or their spirited passion for music since.

Grateful for the beautiful act of music linking us all. - all the congrats to you!

Magic is the word - what a fun time together celebrating the United Negro College Fund in a city so special to us. This organization is the largest and most effective minority education initiatives in American history, and playing a small part in it is such a pleasure. We were honored to see Troy step out in style, wearing some of our favorite pieces—like the Shoals Denim Shirt and Suede Tupelo Trucker—at the Big Game Bash and the Commissioner’s Party. Proud to be part of these milestone moments—congrats, !
