In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. As-Salaamu Alaykum, Muslim Ummah.
I write this letter not as a Muslim scholar, theologian, or imam, but as a Muslim who is striving to hold onto the rope of Allah. As I reflect on the hadiths pertaining to the end of days and the arrival of Dajjal, I am reminded of the Prophet Muhammad's(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) detailed descriptions of events occurring in the West during that time. Scholars have suggested that the advancements in technology we see today could be some of the unknown powers mentioned in those narrations, but Allah knows best.
Allah has told us that our deeds will continue to have an impact after our death, and I urge you to consider the implications of this in relation to our online presence. Let us be mindful of the posts we share on the internet and the ways in which we engage with technology. Are these actions truly beneficial, or are we unknowingly perpetuating evil? It is worth contemplating the extent to which our increasing reliance on technology has benefited us, and whether it aligns with our purpose as creations of Allah.
Once upon a time, people used to say, "I or we have lives outside of social media." However, that statement no longer holds true, as social media has now become our lives. The addiction to our cell phones and the virtual world they bring has become the biggest addiction known to mankind. It is essential that we take a step back and reflect on how we are allowing these platforms to consume our time and energy.
As humanity attempts to create entities resembling God's creation, such as cloning people and developing robots, it is important to recognize that this could be another test from Allah. Could the Dajjal's ability to reach millions of people within seconds be through the internet, utilizing its vast power to spread deception? The distortion of truth and the blurring of lines between reality and falsehood have become prevalent, often driven by the search for financial gain through content creation. We must be cautious and not fall into the trap of facilitating this deception.
It is worth noting that there was a time when social media did not dominate our lives. Now, the addiction to our cell phones and the virtual world they bring has become the biggest addiction known to mankind. I am currently working on a project called EthiTechGuard, with the hope that by the will of Allah, it will be successful and gain support from the global Ummah and the world at large. Let us not forget that we once had lives before technology, social media, and various online platforms. We, as humans, have willingly accepted and forwarded the development of technology, but we must also acknowledge that within all good, evil can emerge.
It is essential that we approach this technological era with caution and thoughtfulness. We should seek guidance from Allah and His Prophet in maintaining a balance between utilizing technology for beneficial purposes and guarding ourselves against its negative consequences. Let us not forget that our primary focus is to please Allah in all that we do, and this includes our interactions with the digital world.
May Allah guide us and help us navigate this technological era in a way that is pleasing to Him. May He strengthen our faith and protect us from the temptations and deceptions of this world. Ameen.
Sincerely,
Abdul Razzaq Salaam
