Thanks for visiting the new Mitchell's Western Store page. My name is Chrissy Gilfus and I am the new owner of the store (since May 2022). I just wanted to give you a brief introduction to myself since many of you came from the original Mitchell's page and may know Kathy but may not know me: I grew up in the area as a horse crazy girl riding and showing locally. I still live locally with my family
and am still a horse crazy girl! I grew up horse showing at Mitchell's in the 90's and shopping here as long as I can remember. My husband, Greg, and I both grew up in the area and are now raising our family here, my son, Evan, is serving in the U.S. Air Force and my daughter, Alexis, is coming up the next generation of a horse crazy girl. Ward and Kathy have always been great people and models of my ideal of what people in the horse industry should be. I began working with the crew at Mitchell's part time and after a few months Kathy came to me with the idea that she wanted to retire. I took a few days to think it over and went back to Kathy with a thought: "I know you want to retire..... but does the store have to????" Kathy and Ward discussed it and decided that the store should live on......
So here we are entering 2023 and we have made the official announcement that I have bought the store. I am really excited to carry on the legacy that Kathy and Ward started on this back country road in 1987. You will see some minor changes in the store but our foundation will always stay the same. We want to provide you, our customers, with an amazing shopping experience, a unique spot to visit and some damn fine western wear including boots, hats, belts and buckles along with so much more. I would love to get to know all of our long time customers and look forward to meeting new ones too.
