In 2020, Five Peaks Breeders donated a young, male, purebred GSD to Sable Altura Firefighters in a generous effort to improve firefighter mental health and resilience in the firehouse as his larger Autumn was retiring from active service.
Koda was introduced in October of 2020, during COVID, and with brother Toby brought lighthearted laughs and moments right away.

They are the goodwill ambassadors of Sable and the Fire Service...and loved by kids and adults across our communities.

Happy 6th Birthday Koda!

Over the next 2 weeks 6 staff from Sable Altura Fire Rescue are attending a Hazmat Technician class hosted by Signet.

HazMat Technician Training — Going Beyond the Hot Zone
Hazardous Materials Technician training takes emergency response to the next level. Technicians are trained to move beyond identifying and isolating a hazardous materials incident—they develop the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to safely operate in the Hot Zone and take offensive actions to control the problem.
Training challenges firefighters to apply chemistry, hazard assessment, air monitoring, PPE selection, respiratory protection, decontamination, leak and spill control, product control techniques, and technical problem-solving in realistic scenarios.
HazMat incidents are often low-frequency, high-risk events, which makes preparation critical. When the call comes in, responders must be able to recognize the hazard, understand the risks, develop a plan, and operate safely as a team.
The goal is simple: Protect our responders, protect our community, control the hazard, and get everyone home safely.
Train hard. Know the hazards. Trust your team. Be ready for the unexpected.
