Consuela didn’t happen in isolation.

It has been shaped over 20 years by so many incredible people, places and experiences. It is a community filled with artists, makers, friends, women I admire, people who challenged me, people who encouraged and inspired me, and people and places that changed the way I see the world.

I’ve always wanted to share their stories—the stories that shaped me and Consuela, and the stories that inspire us to keep trying every day. The laughter, the tears, the art, the creativity, the push to keep going. These are the stories behind our mantra: Make Today Ridiculously Awesome.

I’m beyond thrilled to introduce: The Consuela Chronicle.

Each issue begins with a real person and a story we believe is worth telling. Throughout the quarter, we’ll share more of that story and the people, ideas and experiences around it.

For our very first Chronicle, we’re starting with Melissa Page.

Melissa has spent 30 years leading the Emerald Belles Dance Team and helping thousands of young women find confidence, belonging and belief in themselves. Her story is also one of loss, resilience, mental health, community, friendship, and sisterhood—and what can happen when one person keeps showing up for other people.

There couldn’t be a better place to begin.
