A staple in our home. A staple in our hearts. 🍄

Cassandra has been using HIRO since her baby was literally born. And as a mom who believes in composting, regenerative living, and finding new ways to tread more lightly on this earth, she wasn’t just looking for a better diaper.

She was looking for something that shared her values.

HIRO is the only truly unbleached diaper made in North America. No unnecessary chemicals. No chemical blue wetness indicator strip. And every HIRO Diapers subscription comes with a HIRO Myco-Pod. A small pod containing friendly fungi. Drop it in right before you throw the diaper away. Once it hits the landfill the friendly fungi wake up and are designed to break it down in a safe and natural way. Instead of sitting there for 400 to 500 years.

A diaper that goes out of its way to leave a better mark on the earth.
And on your baby’s future.

That’s HIRO. 🌍

Team HIRO in the Wild in NYC! 🍄

We had the best time talking with new friends and parents on the streets of New York about baby and postpartum products.

They stared. They squinted. They guessed.

Then we held up this little pouch.

“It looks like a teabag.”
“The thing that keeps things dry.”

Meet the HIRO Myco-Pod.

The first shelf-stable fungi technology of its kind designed to help break down plastic. Every HIRO Diapers subscription comes with one small pod filled with friendly fungi.

Here’s how it works:

Baby goes potty in the world’s first myco-digestible diaper. Drop the Myco-Pod into the used diaper, seal it up, and throw it away like normal.
Once that diaper reaches the landfill, the friendly fungi wake up - activated by baby’s p*e and p**p - and are designed to break the diaper down from the inside out in a safe, natural way.

Not in 400–500 years.

Mother Nature has been solving problems like this for millions of years. We’re just learning to work with her.
We’re so excited to see the HIRO mission spreading and so grateful to have you as part of this movement. 🍄

Here’s something wild about fungi. 🍄

When we digest food, we do it inside our bodies.

Fungi do it outside theirs.

They spit their enzymes out, attach to whatever they’re breaking down, and digest it externally. Returning it to the earth. Completely. That’s not decomposition. That’s remineralization.

And that’s exactly what happens inside a HIRO diaper in the landfill.

Every HIRO Diapers subscription comes with a HIRO Myco-Pod. A small pod housing friendly fungi. Drop it in after every diaper change. Once that diaper hits the landfill the baby’s p*e and p**p activates the friendly fungi. They wake up. They spit their enzymes out. And they are designed to break that diaper down from the inside out in a safe and natural way.

The right fungi. The right environment. The right result.

Nature doing what nature has always done. We just finally asked it to do it for diapers. 🌍
