17 years later… & he still chooses to date me. 🥹❤️
People see the pictures, the matching outfits, the smiles, the chemistry… but what they don’t always see is the intentionality behind it all.
Marriage isn’t something you put on autopilot and expect it to thrive. Life gets heavy. Responsibilities pile up. Stress can make you laser-focused on survival, causing you to become one-dimensional. If you’re not careful, self-preservation quietly replaces serving one another.
Nobody really talks about how easy it is to drift.
What has kept us anchored isn’t that we’ve never faced hard seasons—it’s that we’ve continued choosing each other, over and over again.
I’ve learned that a healthy marriage requires three things:
🤍 To be led by God—not your feelings.
🤍 The willingness to RESET daily. Yesterday’s mistakes don’t have to become today’s identity.
🤍 The willingness to die to your flesh so two people can truly become one. Ironically, when you genuinely put your spouse first, you’re also strengthening yourself because what blesses one blesses the other.
After 17 years, I can honestly say our greatest accomplishment isn’t staying together… it’s continuing to pursue one another.
Lord, thank You for the man You’ve created in Your image and likeness. Thank You for his heart to lead, even when the world constantly tries to redefine what a man should be. Thank You for his conviction, because there are moments when my words can’t reach him, but Yours always can.
Thank You for giving us two hearts that still desire to stay connected—not just because of the commitment we made to each other, but because of the covenant we made with You.
May we never stop choosing one another.
In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏🏾❤️
If you’ve been married for years—or you’re praying for marriage—what do you believe is the secret to staying connected through every season? I’d love to hear your thoughts. 💬
