DEPUTY U.S. MARSHAL
MICHAEL ANDREW HANSON
END OF WATCH 07/13/2026
The law enforcement community lost one of its own. Deputy U.S. Marshal Michael Andrew Hanson, known as Drew, age 36, was killed in the line of duty on July 13, 2026, in Alexandria, Louisiana, while serving a fugitive arrest warrant.
Drew embodied the quiet courage that defines our profession. With 6 years in the United States Marshals Service, he put himself in harm’s way daily to track down dangerous fugitives and protect communities. Before joining the Marshals, he served with the U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Ocean Springs Police Department, Gulfport Police Department, and the Mississippi Department of Transportation — a career built on dedication, grit, and service across multiple agencies.
He answered the call when others wouldn’t. He ran toward danger so families could sleep safer at night. In a job where the risks are constant and the thanks are rare, Drew showed up with honor and resolve.
To his family, friends, brothers and sisters in the Marshals Service, and everyone whose lives he touched: our hearts are with you. The badge may stop at the end of a watch, but the sacrifice echoes forever.
