🚨 OKLAHOMA FINALLY BANNED CHILD MARRIAGE
36 Republicans voted to keep it legal.
Here’s the part they really don’t want you connecting…
Senate Bill 504 closed the loopholes that still allowed children as young as 16 to marry with parental consent, and even younger kids with a judge’s approval. It passed the Senate unanimously. In the House it barely made it, 51 to 36. Every single no vote came from a Republican.
Their stated reasons: parental rights, government overreach, and in more than one case, the Bible. One lawmaker brought up Mary and Joseph. Another called the bill socialism. Between 2000 and 2021, more than 3,400 minors were married in Oklahoma — most of them girls to adult men.
This is the same party that campaigns on protecting children and defending family values. When the vote came down to stopping adults from marrying children, 36 of them looked at the bill and said no. Not in theory. On the record. In 2026.
What’s YOUR take on this?
How does a party that claims to protect kids still have dozens of members voting to keep child marriage legal… and why did it take this long to close the loophole?

A major property deal in Oklahoma has changed the future of a massive warehouse that had been considered as a possible federal detention facility.

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma purchased the former Big Lots distribution center in Durant, a 1.24-million-square-foot property located near the Nation’s headquarters campus. The warehouse had previously been under informal consideration by Immigration and Customs Enforcement as a potential detention site.

According to analysis of similar warehouse conversions, a facility of this size could have potentially held thousands of detainees. The purchase removes the property from consideration for that purpose and gives the Choctaw Nation control over a major piece of land near its existing operations.

Chief Gary Batton described the acquisition as an opportunity for future growth, although the Nation has not yet announced a specific plan for the building.

The possibility of a large detention facility had raised concerns among some local officials and residents. Durant leaders said the property was not zoned for detention use, and the city later approved restrictions related to property sales to ICE.

The purchase highlights the growing role of Tribal Nations in shaping economic development and land decisions within their communities.
