Helpline House is looking for helping hands!

Do you want to give back to the community? Have a flexible schedule? Contact them today to volunteer.

We’re looking for a few awesome folks to join our volunteer team and help with Grocery Rescue at Helpline House! This role is a huge help in getting good food back to our community instead of going to waste.

What you’ll do:
• Visit either Safeway and/or T&C
• Check in with each department to collect donated items
• Deliver food back to Helpline House

What you need:
• A large vehicle (SUV, van, or truck)
• Availability around 9:30AM–11:30 AM
• A friendly, reliable attitude

We’re especially looking for substitutes who can jump in as needed — perfect if your schedule is flexible!

Did you know that driving to and from emergency calls is one of the most dangerous operations firefighters do? While BIFD personnel are highly trained operators, our response vehicles are big and respond more slowly than regular passenger vehicles. When you see and hear lights and sirens, pull to the right-hand shoulder and STOP. This is the easiest way to increase your and everyone else's safety on the road. The same goes for cyclists and pedestrians – please pull over and stop!

When you see us on the road without lights and sirens, feel free to wave; we love waving back! It is not necessary to stop traffic to let us into the roundabout or into line; doing so may put you at risk of being rear-ended. Remember, predictable driving is safe driving!
