Opening the runway with a little winter magic Cape Cod Fashion Week

Our opening model, Lila, absolutely rocked this Zavia Walker look featuring a skirt created from an original photograph of our own snow-covered backyard. What started as a quiet Cape Cod winter moment became a bold, wearable print—and paired with our hand-painted Z Walker cropped shirt, it felt like the perfect way to open the show.

I love taking ordinary moments, places and memories and turning them into something you can actually wear. And Lila brought this one to life beautifully.

Yesterday, Zavia Walker returned to the runway at Cape Cod Fashion Week Cape Cod Fashion Week , and this collection felt like a journey through the seasons.

We opened in winter with two pieces from our Winter Solstice print — the skirt and robe — before slowly moving toward warmer days. Along the way came hand-painted denim sourced from 606 Thrift, affordable shirts transformed by hand, and pieces that reminded me that fashion can be art without losing its accessibility.

Then came spring — cloudy-day blues, soft yellows and hand-dyed shirts inspired by that beautiful in-between weather when the sky looks like rain but color still finds its way through.

And eventually, we arrived at summer in Negril, Jamaica. 🇯🇲

The Negril print is my love letter to one of Jamaica’s most beautiful places: layers of blue inspired by the Caribbean Sea and touches of pink inspired by those unforgettable Negril sunsets. Seeing that print move down the runway in resort silhouettes felt like bringing a little piece of home to Cape Cod.

And then came the bride in white. 🤍

Ending the collection with a white dress felt like its own little moment — a palate cleanser after all that color, print and movement. A clean slate. A quiet question at the end of the story: What will Zavia Walker do next?

And one of the best moments? A gentleman bought one of our polos straight off the runway. ❤️

I’ve been part of Cape Cod Fashion Week since the beginning — first as a pop-up artist and on the runway every year since. Congratulations to my fellow designers, big ups to the student designers, and thank you to every model, volunteer, photographer and supporter who helped bring another beautiful show to life.
