This past weekend was the , which was my very last market!!! Anna and her family put on the most organized, high quality, top-notch market I have ever been a part of so I am sitting here today feeling very very grateful (and exhausted-in the best way!) THANK YOU to all who stopped by and were able to take home one last piece of The Barn Boutique. Here are a few examples of why people purchased something: they lost weight & are treating themselves, postpartum “going home” outfit, holiday party, bachelorette party, trip to Mexico, Thanksgiving outfit, etc.!

Even though I have loved my time doing this, I know I am making the right decision. When my kids came to visit me this weekend all they wanted to do was play in the pop-up tent, asked me to come home with them to color & then cried when I said I couldn’t do that this time. They’re only this young for so long and I don’t want to miss out on the little things.

Thank you for being a part of this incredibly special chapter! You can still shop what is left of our inventory inside at the until the end of December or on our website as well!

Maybe one day you’ll see me shlepping hangers, racks & boxes of inventory again. But for now I’m off to play hide & seek, trains & being chauffeur + the best DJ of KPop Demon Hunters in the tri-cities! ✌️

I want to say so many things to you as I announce the end of “The Barn Boutique.”

When my Mom, sister & I started this business nine years ago, I remember we agreed we could have closed the doors on week 3 because our mission of “empowered women, empowering women” had already been accomplished. The young, newly postpartum Mom who barely knew us, walked into our little shop in the back of the barn garage & walked out 40 min later feeling confident, beautiful & more seen than she had in a long time. Our business was an instant success because of that moment & THAT is what it is all about.

Over the years, we have shared milestones, business pivots, stories, and seasons with so many of you. Whether you came to our original spaces in Geneva on Dow Ave. & Stevens St., visited our room in Elburn, attended a market, shopped online, shopped at The Wilson Street Mercantile, cheered us on from social media, and/or supported us by simply checking in to see how things were going, it meant more than you could ever imagine! “The Barn Boutique” customers & supporters will forever be a part of our extended family.

There truly aren’t enough words or AI prompts that could encompass the gratitude we feel. It’s too big of a feeling to put into words so I am just going to say a big fat THANK YOU if you are reading this!

It is time for our family to step into the next chapter. I have learned how important it is to pivot when needed, embrace what makes you truly happy and to never loose sight of what matters most. For us…that means quality time with our kids & family. They’re only in the “magical ages” for so long and I don’t want to miss any of that.

Good Morning ☕️ I just wanted to pop on here to point out the obvious fact it’s been quiet 🤫 on my business & personal social media accounts. Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️ but it IS on purpose and it’s because I am truly trying to live in each moment. It’s not because I don’t care, it’s not because this business isn’t important & it’s not because I haven’t been thinking about it 24/7 still. In all honesty, it’s because social media is draining sometimes. It’s not a happy place anymore so I significantly limit my time spent on it.

I want it to turn back into a place of joy, inspiration, humor & feel good posts! So here’s one for you…a cup of JOY this morning, taken by my hubby 🥰☕️ in our most favorite place on the planet, “The Dream” which is our family home at the lake. This is where I’ll be for a while, soaking up every ounce of childhood-like awe & wonder it offers!

This past week we kicked off summer ☀️with a road trip 🚙 to Niagara Falls, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Boston, Salem & Bar Harbor! We had an incredible time and made memories that will last forever!!!

My Mom deserves all the credit in the world today (and everyday!) She continues to support me through the highs & lows of motherhood while running a small business, and continues to offer her words of wisdom and encouragement always!

Today I want to share all the things she does to help make The Barn Boutique stay afloat.
💖She helps me buy at markets.
💖Gives opinions when I send her pieces I’m considering bringing in.
💖Comments, loves & shares everything I share on social media.
💖Watches our children so I can move inventory, attend a market or simply tag merchandise.
💖Wants to shop and snag first dibs on pieces so she can wear them & brag about where they came from.
💖She shows up to almost every single market to stand with me, let me run to the bathroom, grabs coffee/food when I need it most & helps handle the tear down process too.

🌟Most of all…she tells me how PROUD of me she is and that means more to me than she’ll ever probably realize! Thank you Amy Cantrell Hilmer for being YOU & continuing to support me always. I love you & Happy Mother’s Day! 💛😘
