Tomorrow, September 4, is the Wings of Love Sewalong with RaNae Merrill! The YouTube livestream begins at 12pm EDT.

RaNae RaNae Merrill will be sewing her quilt for the MD Anderson Ovarian Cancer Quilt Project. This biannual event features 24” x 24” quilts by 25 quilt artists. They are displayed at International Quilt Festival in Houston, and auctioned off to benefit UT MD Anderson Cancer Center

Join her for interviews with Karla, the Quilt Auction organizers, and other interesting guests.

The Kurbits Quilt by Quilter Jenny Haynes (Nilsson) is one of our favorites. This pattern is available from Quiltfolk as part of their Stitching in Sweden workshop. The workshop is a wonderful way to experience Swedish folk art culture and learn Jenny’s easy curved piecing techniques. We have lots available for the full quilt and block patterns with four different background colors.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Ovarian Cancer Awareness is especially important to us at Cherrywood Fabrics. Our founder, Dawn Hall, was taken by this disease in 2002. We have long supported the MD Anderson Ovarian Quilt Project. We are honored to support this cause in her memory. This year, we have a special way to show our support.

Recently diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, RaNae Merrill was invited to make a small quilt for the MD Anderson Ovarian Quilt Auction that takes place in Fall 2027. She already had this paper-pieced heart design available, which also happens to resemble ovaries and fallopian tubes.

A message from RaNae

September 4 is WEAR TEAL DAY. I’ve decided to MAKE my quilt ON September 4th,and I’m going to LIVE-STREAM my studio all day so YOU CAN QUILT WITH ME! During the day I’ll also feature interviews with Karla, with the MD Anderson Quilt Auction organizers, and some other interesting guests.

Now, since September 4 is WEAR Teal Day (and whether or not you quilt with me, you want to show your support, right?) I created a T-shirt with the teal-colored Wings of Love design on the front. I’ll be wearing mine on the day of the livestream!

Yes, the Wicked Challenge was over a decade ago, but we are still not over it! Introducing Ozland, Wicked reimagined with shades that we love For Good.

Recently our Director of Sales Nathania Apple had the pleasure of seeing Wicked in London’s West End. They had Elphaba and Galinda costumes on display in the lobby! We thought you might like a peek too.
