Z Sun Designs Mary Caroline Garland Jewelry Designs is inspired by the beauty of the world around us resulting in Down-to-Earth Elegance.

Inspiration comes from New Orleans and the Native Americans of the Southwest, from the Piney Woods, and from Marine-life. The handmade jewelry of Z Sun Designs is inspired by the beauty of the world around us resulting in Down-to-Earth Elegance. Inspiration comes from the culture of New Orleans, from the culture of the Native Americans of the Southwest, from the Piney Woods, and from the Marine Li

fe of the Gulf Coast. Marine life is observed as objects of beauty. Barnacles on a sea-shell, scales on a fish, and the ripples of an oyster are all muses for the creation of original jewelry. It is with hope that the wearer will feel the intangibles of beauty, hope and peace while they adorn themselves with the Down-to Earth Elegance of Z Sun Designs.

The nurses and medical workers received their helping hand ex voto pins. I’m hoping these pins bring protection to the wonderful care givers who are on the front lines.

In the ex voto tradition, these hands are made to give thanks to nurses and medical workers who are on the front lines during the Covid-19 pandemic. Metalsmiths from different countries have come together to celebrate nurses. This is my first batch. I’m hoping to make 25, more if time allows. It’s part of The Hand Metal Project.

Life is good and art makes it even better. I love to explore and lately I’ve been digging into abstract art. I’ve always liked it and am having so much fun with this exploration. I was inspired to a create a series of abstract statement necklaces. This one is inspired by Rothko, Adele Sypesteyn, and Ida Kohlmeyer.

It’s time to mail off these tiny rings for my little nieces who just moved to Colorado, plus one that lives near New Orleans. The ages are 2, 7, 12 15 and 17. The stones are Calcedony, Turquoise,Amethyst, and Yellow Agate. The littlest girl’s finger was so tiny that her size wasn’t on the ring sizer so I used a piece of copper wire to measure her tiny finger.
