Penny Print Studio – a community-driven print shop in Bayfield, WI. We print, sew, make small-batch goods, nurture kids’ creativity, and celebrate original art.

Partner artists earn 10% commission on in-house prints. As a child I was a fish out of water in math and science classrooms. I didn’t want to solve problems I couldn’t hold. I didn’t want to cut the slippery sad frog. I dreaded gym. I never understood why I was asked to catch large plastic objects hurled at my face. But in the art room, in the art room—I was home. Throughout my teens and young adu

lthood, I sought creative spaces and had the privilege of finding artists who taught me the importance of consistent exploration. And now, here I am (for the first time)—I am starting a business. I’m going to open a space. It’s a small space in a once vacant building. It’s not on the main drag and the door🚪still needs to be cut but it is downtown in our beloved small community of Bayfield, WI.

✨Penny Print Studio✨will consist of a retail space and art classroom. We will provide sceenprinting, artisan goods, and educational opportunities for locals and tourists. And when I refer to, “we” and “our” I mean Abe and myself. If you know us, you know we have a hard time standing still. Change and creativity are our constants. So as much as it might be my voice you hear from on here, this endeavor would not be possible without my partner and best friend,

I hope we can make a safe space for youth and adults. A home where artists are paid for their work and elevated for the courage it takes to be a maker. The “weirdos” of the world that feel paint is water, colour is landscape, and materials are hope. Thank you for visiting!

Let the wild rumpus start! ✨

We’ve been preparing… and it’s that time of year again: our 5th Annual Stand with Banned Books event. This year’s design was a collaboration between April Lehman and myself, inspired by the forever-iconic monsters of Maurice Sendak. ♥️

Join us June 6th for printing, books, community, music and a little beautiful chaos.

A few quick notes:
•One printed item per person
•New styles + pre-printed pieces will be available for purchase
•We’ll also have a free “Crown Craft” station for kiddos so they can crown themselves king (or queen) like Max 👑 Donations for the project are always appreciated.

Guess who joined me at work today?!👨‍💻 It’s Career Week at Bayfield School, and Jonah Clark spent the day shadowing me. We talked about profit margins, POS systems, and Adobe Illustrator—such a neat opportunity to hang out with a pretty cool middle schooler.

He also (begrudgingly) helped write this post 🥰

My favorite thing about Lake Superior? She’s unbothered. Quiet when she wants to be quiet, raging when she wants to rage. Tourism, photoshoots, travel plans—it all happens on her time. So much beauty was held in those ice formations, and then she destroyed it all.

The Meyers Beach gallery was open just one day this winter—and I respect that. ❄️🔥

I feel like I’m painting when I make these—and I really love painting. I react to the colors, shapes, and compositions, adding thread where thread is calling and prints where prints are calling.

Have you heard?!❄️The Apostle Islands ICE CAVES are opening Monday at 8:30 AM, and we are here for it.

✏️Our hands have been busy creating an illustration that captures this stunning natural phenomenon. It hasn’t been possible to visit the caves since 2015!

The design will be available Tuesday, pending the fastest digitizing this moment allows.

For important safety details (remember—we live in real winter up here, and Lake Superior is wild), please visit the Bayfield Chamber and/or the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore website .islands And as always, please bring kindness to our small town—we don’t typically see a large influx of winter visitors.
