*SOLD - a sharp-eyed customer snagged some discontinued James Avery earrings! 🛍🔥

A funny thing happens when you run a vintage shop: your inventory and your life start sharing drawers.

Last night I discovered bathroom humidity and one exploded compact of blush had settled onto my jewelry - so I spent the evening cleaning, sorting, repairing, and deciding what stays.

Some of these pieces are headed to Taluka. Some have been with me for years, and at least one has earned its place in my story forever.

Something I truly love about vintage is that almost every piece starts out as... something... it begins a journey, collects stories, earns a rich life and keeps making people happy.

We even mowed the grass for this video!

Yes, we are still your little vintage shop full of beautiful clothing, treasures, and one-of-a-kind finds… but this 100-year-old house had bigger plans.

Art classes, birthday parties, creative workshops, private events - a little bit of everything.

So instead of trying to make Taluka fit in a box, we’re opening the doors in a way that fits what it has become.

👀 🩷 A scene from the home that served as inspiration for Ashley Wilkes' "Twelve Oaks" in Gone with the Wind.

The stunning 1836 antebellum mansion located in Covington, Georgia will also serve as inspiration for my backyard enjoyment at our own (slightly less grand) old dame.

If I can swing my dream stock tank pool, that'll suffice as long as there's crystal and couture... déclassé wins the day. 🏡🩷

Worked on the Taluka entry foyer tonight, and started turning it into the photo corner I’ve been imagining. 🐊

I painted the gold frame freehand, and added the suspended branch concept (the branch is AI for now, until I install it tomorow). Now we have a backdrop for rotating displays and event photos, soft boxes included! 📸

Yes, the burgundy dress is available... and we are open regular hours again! 🛍

We know that building! It's Taluka Trades from when we hosted this bi- monthly special event. 🏡

Tonight, a very special art commission by the talented Sophia Bouey will be unveiled at Beaumont Heritage Society Heritage happy hour at the Jefferson County Courthouse - celebrating the past year's locations for this wonderful event.

Something special is coming to Heritage Happy Hour. 🎨✨

Over the past year, Heritage Happy Hour has taken us across Beaumont to celebrate the places, stories, and spaces that make our community unique. Now, those memories have been captured in one beautiful piece of art.

Commissioned by the Beaumont Heritage Society and created by watercolor artist Sophia Bouey of Gahlee and Things, this exclusive artwork features every Heritage Happy Hour location from July 2025 through May 2026.

Print sales launch soon — and every purchase supports the Beaumont Heritage Society’s mission of preservation, education, and community engagement. Prints can be purchased at Heritage Happy Hours over the next year (beginning this Thursday) but will go out of print after May 2027. Prints can also be purchased in person at the Chambers House and John Jay French Museum beginning June 1st.

Everybody had so much fun at History and Havdalah, hosted at Taluka Trades. Check out this Hava Nagila rendition which got pretty lively! Love it.
We are ready to have another party soon. Thinking of an occasional celebration called Culture Club, where people may learn about cultures and traditions they may otherwise be unfamiliar with. 🎵
