A European trained dressmaker, tailor and designer, Brigitte Burg specializes in making high quality clothing sewn with extreme attention to detail and often time-consuming hand executed techniques. Burg's now lifelong dedication to her craft began in her childhood in Salzburg, Austria. Her earliest memories are of observing her mother as she took apart existing clothing, flipped the pieces around
, and created something completely new. She was fascinated by the design process and fell in love with fabric. Burg eagerly learned, as a child, to assist her mother in making doll clothes and later her own designs. She began formal training in dressmaking design at the age of 15, at Damenkleidermacher, during which time she apprenticed for three years on the job in the areas of pattern making, manufacturing, and designing Haute Couture. Brigitte CertificationAfter graduation, she was employed by a Haute Couture house, where she demonstrated her ability to make fine silk garments by hand. Burg then studied both French and English pattern making. Burg married and moved to Germany. She developed a side business working with her own clients and creating her own designs, while working in alterations at a clothing store in Germany. She and her husband relocated to the United States in 1994. She has been described by former clients as "extremely talented" with "impressive honesty," and "has the ability to create your dream outfit". Burg has designed and created formal wear, wedding attire, men's suits, artistic theatrical wear, historical attire, accessories to these different types of attire, and swim wear for clients across the U.S. Her specialty is in making clothing for real people with their own individual sizes.
