Moods Fabric store coming to Chicago?! Yes! Sorta.

No, they won’t have the factory, multi-level 60” bolts of fabrics. Instead they will have something like the upholstery rectangle samples in books. But at least we can see the actual colors of the fabric, actual size of a print, feel the various textures of the fabrics and order for delivery. Plus it sounds like they may have classes and events at this flagship store in the loop!

I’m adding it to the treasure map of stores I have that I can drive to on auto pilot!

Such a lovely time teaching a Hemming class with Tina last night! I did things a little differently since she was a solo student. I asked she bring a pair of her pants (and shoes she wears with them) to learn to hem. She brought 4 pairs to select from and chose yoga pants.

We spent a little bit of time learning her new Brother sewing machine, a gift from a friend and a mini-version of Intro to Sewing. Then had her put on the pants and taught how to pin them up.

And then started sewing and then how to press (iron with a presser cloth and wood blocks).

Future hemming classes - bring in a pair of pants (with shoes) to hem. Earlier start time for those new to machine sewing or new machine. Smaller class size, maybe 4, 3 hour class.

I’m looking forward to another hemming class in June or July.
