We are currently running 6 months out here at the mill. Contrary to popular opinion, that is NOT a bad thing, trust me! I hear it or read it a lot. "It takes so long" or "It costs so much." As I often tell people, pick the part you love and let someone else do the rest. Good things take time. We are here to do the rest!

We wash, pick and card. That is one service. I do not just wash wool. That gets you roving or batts. And we spin. Some weaving too.
I say all of this because YOU need to think about your next shearing and selling season. Plan ahead for your shows and be prepared! If you are entertaining thoughts of having work done here, now through January is the time to get on the books so your product is ready for summer sales.
We can hold your spot with a deposit. That means your fiber typically goes directly into the queue when it arrives!

LaVonne, owner/operator of the Wool Mill, will teach you how to needle-felt a witchy owl! All supplies are included, and no experience is necessary. The workshop is open to all ages; children under 10 are welcome too, and must be accompanied by a paying adult.

We have recently come across a couple of fun specimens for the cabinet of curiosities, things we don't want in your wool. Here's a fun one.
In all of the years of processing, I have never had a thistle head with mature seeds in it. Finding a seed or 2 caused panic in me because of what they resemble. As I plucked the thistle head out, more seeds csme out. It almost looked alive, which was kind of a creepy fun thing for me. Remember, these are cooked in the wash process, so are not viable. It would be fun to see if any sprout though.

Because it's the most commonly asked question: How much does it cost? It's all here, always has been. If I sound like I am repeating myself, I am. It all bears repeating. We are all guilty of skimming and not actually reading, so I have been redundant. And so it goes. Round and round. If you don't see it here, click on the Processing Prices page. It's there too. It's been there since the beginning as well.

How much wool? How much money? How long? The gist of it: Your loss percentage is breed dependent. I no longer skirt incoming wool for others. It must arrive already free of large debris, p**p and grease tags and anything you don't want next to your skin. I reserve the right to ship it back unprocess...

Farm living is the life for me!
Cows, not condos!
The acreage you see behind the cows is in open space. We voted for an open space bond years ago and the neighbor's property was some of the very first to go into it. It will never be developed. I call it our million dollar view.
