Pointe teachers, dancers and parents - I beg you to read this article💜 I have seen issues with pointe shoes not staying on feet, pointe shoes twisting on hyper flexible feet and injuries from stretch ribbon.

🩰 Fit Tip Friday is back—this month, dancer, teacher, and pointe shoe therapist Riley Thomas Weber breaks down why traditional pointe shoe ribbons are more than just a detail. According to Weber, ribbons have a true anatomical purpose: they lift the shoe into the instep, help prevent collapsing, and provide essential support that keeps dancers secure en pointe.

While stretch ribbons and infinity loops can be useful for recovery or quick changes, he cautions that they shouldn’t replace properly tied ribbons in training—since doing so can reduce stability and even lead to the shoe slipping mid-performance.
