Hello Dear Friends!

I cannot believe a year has passed since closing our doors at Statement. I also cannot believe how busy life has been since last August. Between grandchildren (3 now), house projects, trips, family and friend events and organizing everything I put aside for years, the year has certainly flown by.
In all of this busyness, I have never stopped thinking about all of you who became friends over the years. I miss your faces and I miss hearing about your lives. I miss shopping for you and providing you with fun outfits and accessories for all of your life events.
I have often thought of closing down this page, but since we are still able to communicate here, I will leave it up a little longer. Would love to hear from you!
I also hope you are all able to find great clothing in our area as you continue to shop locally and regionally. Our local businesses really need the support right now.

Baby News: Toni just welcomed a new Granddaughter into the world! Georgia Michele Whitmyre was born on May 19th.
This is Toni's 5th Granddaughter and has a Grandson on the way!! Wonderful and busy times!!

Well, it is my favorite time of the year and working retail through the holidays always made the season extra special for me! I’ve sure misssd decorating the shop this month and planning holiday events for you. Wrapping gifts and sharing in holiday cheer would be filling our days now.
I miss helping you choose gifts for loved ones and finding the perfect holiday outfits. I especially miss you kiddos who came in to buy something special for your Mom.
All of us at Statement miss you, and we wish you a blessed holiday season!!! 🎄

Before purchasing this shop in 2015, my background included many years in retail. In addition to a Degree in Fashion Merchandising, I owned and operated a small boutique in Denver, Co prior to moving to Bellingham. After enjoying my new life as a wife and stay at home Mom, the opportunity to buy another business came about when Sandell’s owner Susan Sandell decided it was time she would retire. The timing seemed perfect and once again I found myself running a business in an industry I loved. Three wonderful employees stayed on and Statement Apparel was born. Choosing the name was important, and to me “Statement” checked the boxes of what I wanted to accomplish. First, I hoped that everyone who came into the shop would leave with clothing unique to their individual style, to make their own statement. That meant we would strive for the absolute best customer service to make them feel good about themselves and their purchase. Second, I hoped to be able to give back to a community I loved. I wanted to choose an organization that had touched many lives (including my own someday!), and I decided Hospice was a perfect fit. A percentage of every sale is donated to The Whatcom Hospice Foundation. It truly makes selling clothing a lot more satisfying knowing these funds are helping right here at home.
