JUST A MEMORY.....
Grant Motel - Palm Court INN
Built in 1940 at 8200 South Main street in Houston and was home away from home for many Houston Livestock Show exhibitors.
Clean room; safe; no computor reservations; park in front of your door; best coffee in town; Gulf Coast Cattleman magazine in lobby and all for a $50 dollar rate. When you called each year, you would more than likely talk to Harry Grant the owner. Harry would in return mail you a typed letter to guarantee your reservations.
I remember the sign out front once read: "George Washington never slept here, but Elvis did". I would always ask Harry to reserve Elvis's room for me during the Jr. Heifer & Steer show week as it was on the end and room layout was different.
(I would tell Theresa to pretend that she was with Elvis during the week)
I took the attached photo about a week before it was demolished the fall of 2005. Harry's daughter shipped me a few items i requested for my in home Stock Show Museum. Man i miss the Grant Motel.
