Joan Miller, a self-taught leather artist who resides in Bernville, Pennsylvania, first fell in love with the art of hand-tooling leather at the age of twelve. Joan has loved and worked with animals all her life, from learning to ride horses when she was nine years old, to creating prize winning costumes for her daughter Amanda, who showed sheep in the 4-H and FFA program for fourteen years. Joan
has created custom pieces that include a variety of patterns - from tractors to pets, to flowers to hunting scenes! Joan's extensive experience with animals further supplements her skills, and she specializes in incorporating animal patterns in all her leather projects - from belts, wallets, key fobs, buckles, and custom pieces. Joan is highly skilled at creating original designs to include any kind of pattern as well as crafting custom products for clients based on pictures that they provide of images they want to capture forever in leather. Joan's love of animals and horses inspired her to study Animal Science at Penn State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, and met her husband Ron. When creating livestock patterns, Joan tailors her designs to be specific to breed types. Instead of producing generic animal patterns, she creates each design to be as authentic and accurate as possible. If an Angus cattle breeder or a Quarter Horse enthusiast wants their breed on a belt or wallet, the design will be specific to their particular passion and Joan is definitely the artist for him! Joan's experience with animals, her passion for her craft, and her limitless creativity ensures that every 'Leather Designs by Joan' product is a one-of-a-kind piece of art!
